There are weight divisions for a REASON!!!

    Did Hagler move up? :patsch

Ward needs to stay at 168 and dominate it again and again and again and again. Virgil just stated that Ward will be going back down to 168, where he belongs.

    Same with GGG!!! :deal

Na moving up makes for exciting fights

Especially if the fighters are not challenged in their own weight class

Ward and Golovkin both moving up would make for exciting match ups

    Who wouldn't want that

We want to see fighters fight in their own classes, we want to see them at their absolute prime.

No one wants to see a Ward fighting at 75 where he will be bloated up and not ideal.

Do you think Ward is a small SMW?

I think he's a good sized SMW, he's not BIG.

Ward's team doesn't share your sentiments though. They already had early talks with Kovalev to fight in 2016.

Actually, Virgil just confirmed that the man will be staying at 68 for a while.

    Maybe Duva was lying? :think

His manager Klimas has confirmed that there are talks indeed. They are on the same network too, it will happen in 2016 :happy:happy

    If it does, it does.

I'm still confident Ward takes it.

But he should be staying at 68. :thumbsup

Fighters moving up in boxing is nothing uncommon. The best should fight the best, no weight excuses.

So why doesn't Kovalev go fight Drozd/Lebedev/Huck? Or Klit!

Why is he calling out SMW's?

    So much double standards.

Only WARD has to move up. :patsch

To make it fair, fighters should stay at their own division.

No Ward can stay at 168 but a one time event at 175 facing Kovalev is what everyone wants. Kovalev will eventually move up to CW, don't worry. He still has lots of business at 175.

If Ward can't make 168 then his move to 175 should be permanent.

Agreed. There is nothing more For Golovkin to accomplish at middleweight than actually winning the linear title by beating Canelo after he beats Cotto.

If Ward stays at 168, it should be to fight GGG, otherwise, a Kovalev fight at 175 is huge.

    Exactly

These are the matchups that people want to see

Not Golovkin beating up a welterweight in Cotto or Ward decisioning Froch again
