I've surprised myself in that I'm seriously considering purchasing this on Sky Box Office. I never do this as i'm firmly of the mindset that I pay enough for my Sky Sports package and adding myself to the PPV stampede will only encourage them to put more cards on PPV (Bellew-CleverlyFFS). Anyway I do regard this as a decent card with a couple of interesting fights (Selby, Mitchell) that could go either way alongside some other reasonable bouts. I agree with the Pro Punter in the main that all PPVs should be boycotted and then they'd go away but in my current situation (wife just had a baby so gonna be in the house anyway and defo don't want to be messing about online with streams) it does seem convenient that given it is affordable to me to just order this. I also quite like the idea of watching boxing from 5pm all the way through to whenever it finishes. Would round out a decent day of TV sport after the Scottish Cup Final at 3pm and then I can watch Copa Del Rey on catchup. What are everyone elses plans/thoughts on this. May seem a slightly pointless thread but somehow it helped to just sit here and type all this out. I'm now leaning 70-30 to buying it, despite the fact I know it's wrong
I think a lot of people feel the same. The PPV isn't their for the fans but for the fighters. No one is happy paying extra money but at the end of the day if it represents value for money then you go for it. I think this card looks superb, it may not have the big marquee name that usually tops a PPV bill but it has at least 5 world class fighters on the bill, and 5 fights that are 60/40 at worst.
This is PPV worthy compared to what I've purchased before. If they promise not to show the Cleverly fight I'd be willing to pay more.
How are they mismatches? Gavin will keep it competitive AJ fight goes the distance Mitchell has trained hard and that's a 60/40 fight
Mitchell isn't a mismatch, look at the odds mate, AJ is like 1/50 with most, not as much of a mismatch as that though, and Brook at 1/10, he should KO Gavin in the middle rounds. Most people will say they are the worst two bouts on the entire card, that's all I am saying so I was surprised that those two (Excluding Mitchell) were the ones you were most looking forward to.
Funny thing is, I can't see this raring with the casuals - whereas the "hardcore" will be all over it. Eddie loves raking in the coin with the casual fans, but I cannot see any of them shelling out for this. I always judge the casual fans by the lads I work with. General sports fans, but none of them really massive boxing fans. All of them wanted to see this until I told them it was on PPV. They know of Frankie Gavin as he is a local lad, but won't pay for him. And don't want to fork out for Joshua in what really is a run out for him. I tried to explain the quality of Mitchell-Linares, Selby-Grenavich along with Ryder-Blackwell, Cardle-Evans and Hibbert-Ryan. It's a great show - but I just can't see this rating very highly. Still, Bellew v Cleverly II apparently did so anything is possible I guess...
How are they mismatches? Because Gavin or Johnson have zero % chance of winning FFS. atsch Go and watch the Wrestling as it is less fixed :deal
Totally agree. Hopefully there are less around each time they get ripped off with Bellend v Clev and Mayweather v Pac borefests. The Spanish Cup final is on live and at least that will badly hit PPV figures. The less that buy, the quicker PPV will die :happy
