A big advantage for GGG if he fights Froch

Footwork. I just watched Froch vs. Ward and Froch vs. Dirrell. Froch has a real difficulty with fighters that have better footwork. Come straight in and he can time well, but the angles and turns really puts him off. Knowing that GGG has excellent foot work, I wonder how Froch will handle being in poor position all night.

Lets hope Froch accepts this fight. I think he will. His wife seems high maintainance and he will need the extra money at some point.

While it's true that GGG has excellent footwork, he isn't exactly fleet of foot, and that, I think, may have figured into the equation noting difficulty he had with Ward and Dirrell in terms of dictating distance.

All the same, Froch usually does very well at finding and maintaining his distance in most cases, and I think this is something The Cobra might be able to neutralize via a combination of other things against GGG, starting with an intelligent jab.

Ergo, I'm not anticipating Golovkin's superior footwork to be as much of a factor as I ordinarily would when contemplating match-ups. Now if GGG had much quicker feet, or if his feet are far quicker than I'm crediting him, then perhaps I could be mistaken.

    But I don't think I am.

Froch isn't exactly Ali ha ha

He won't be able to keep Golovkin off of him in my opinion

I get what you are saying, it was the speed of the footwork that left Froch lunging at nothing. Golovkin isn't so fast, but I think his footwork is more of a balance and leverage advantage, meaning he keeps his opponent off balanced and in poor position to leverage shots.

If Froch controls with the jab, he might be able to control GGG's positioning. I still see GGG being able to work the angles and find his shots on Froch causing him to reset often and try to slug his way out of it. Its these moments where the calm and calculated Golovkin will land on an off balanced and stationary Froch. But then again, its a tall order for the smaller man to out brawl Froch.

Sorry, but you are rarely right... Bernard didn't beat Kovelav
There is an intangible here that you are not considering: Gennady can
box with the best of them when he needs to...

Golovkin has a different type of footwork than the likes of Dirrell or Ward, his footwork is more pressure style and more offensively minded.

Froch struggles with movers and footwork, but I dont think he will struggle with Golovkin, due to Frochs natural size advantage and think Golovkin will have trouble the the bigger Froch, even if Froch is an older fighter in the later stages of his career.
I notice that when Golovkin is hit back and backing up, he is not as effective and I think this will become apparent if Froch were to push him back, which I think he would if they fought

Totally agree regarding the footwork, it's a non issue. GGG's footwork is to mount offense, he doesn't use it to evade people like Ward and Dirrell, so it's a total non issue. In fact, this could turn out to be a huge negative if Froch starts to back him up, which at 168lbs is a distinct possibility.

I'm not sure if people grossly overrate GGG or underrate Froch, but I think from a style perspective, Froch has the size and range to outbox the smaller triple G. If Golovkin can't put a dent in him, then for me, I don't think there's anyway he can win from what I've seen him display. So far he's just been a wrecking ball and not had to make any adjustments, I think this fight will determine if he can.
