Very good point.:good Holmes really had Frank's number in less shape. He applied sensible boxing tactics and stylistically Frank was out of his depth. As champion Holmes never dropped to an opponents level. Can you see Witherspoon not slobbering to Scott Frank's level in is next fight though? He had a full distance fight with Floyd Jumbo Cummings right after meeting Holmes. snipes fought scott Frank and Larry Holmes back to back just months apart. He was at his best then because be went out to beat Berbick next time out.
Frank and I are from the same state so I watched his entire career in person and on local TV. No he was not that good.
I agree. LeDoux was a solid heavyweight who always gave his best. He didn't have a lot of natural physical gifts, such as hand speed and power, but he made up for it as much as he could with determination and toughness. Plus he had some decent wins. For him to be refernced as garbage is inaccurate and uncalled for. As for Scott Frank, he did what he did with what he had to work with. Give him credit for that.
err no, Le Doux was in no way "garbage" but a tough fringe contender who would fight anyone. No world beater to be sure but did a fair bit for someone who didnt have alot of natural talent to begin with. Decent wins over Rodney Bobick, Ron Stander, Larry Middleton, Pedro Soto, Tom Prater and Marty Monroe (good fight). OK, hardly a murderers row but all decent, good pros Draws with Leon Spinks, Bill Sharkey and Norton..... Bull**** loses to Johnny Boudroux and Ron Lyle Granted, was always gonna be outclassed by the likes of Holmes, Page, Foreman etc but to label the man as "garbage" is deeply insulting to a tough, brave fighter who always came to fight. RIP Scott LeDoux
Scott Frank deserved to be taken as seriously as anybody else in the 1980s. He drew with prime Snipes. If he's no good, neither was anyone else.
He drew with a Snipes that had an off-night.Snipes' head on straight, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
Just watched him v Snipes he looked to have a skill set on a par with Chris Arreola or maybe better.:think
He was about the same skill level as Bill Brennan, one of Dempsey's best wins. He had a bit better jab than Brennan though and actually knew how to put together combinations. :good
Hey, if Arreola could live with 1980s heavyweights I agree.:good Was a good fight wasn't it. How did you score it?
Oh give it a rest Sonny, you are coming off as a petulant child here. A police officer? What idiot decided you were suitable to carry a weapon?
When did Snipes look better? he was always that Awkward, but always in shape, strong and good value. Here he just got smothered and bundled out of a fight he could have won if only he could find enough space and discourage the spirit of an enthusiastic young buck trying to win. Frank prevented him from finding a foothold. Kept it close. It prevented Snipes from pulling away.
You must be onto something, because I read this post two days ago and I still don't know how to respond.
