You think a fighter prepares and fights the same for Algieri as Mayweather? Cool. How about the Khan that fought Alexander, Judah Kolot..etc etc
But he's trying to get a lotto ticket for Mayweather and it isn't going to happen the way he's fighting now
In terms of Mayweather special? Khan has never been close. Elite world level fighter, sure, but not once in a lifetime talent like a Mayweather.
@ Ayala (A great Boro plater if you know what that means) If anything I honestly think a poor performance would serve him better for a Mayweather fight. @ IB I hear what youre saying but I don't think that can be the benchmark or we're going to be permanently disappointed in fighters. I think this is a reasonably poor matchup for Khan. One that I think he will win with ease, but I think the style is one that creates difficulty for him. Looking back at the Alexander or Colazo fights, I'd say his performance probably at least equals Mayweather if he was to fight them. Again, I don't think he's on par, but I do think he is in the top 3 and if that's not elite then what are we watching.
Well I'm only using Floyd as the benchmark for "specialness" in this context because, well, the point of this very thread is the speculative Mayweather vs. Khan match-up. :yep
Fair enough to compare. But not atall to use that as a benchmark for being a special boxer. Perhaps saying "Khan is good but Mayweather is still another level" is fair enough. Otherwise using that same reasoning you could effectively declare there are no more than 4 good boxers in the entire division. There is no way Mayweather boxes Khan like Algieri did, much more likely he takes up an Alexander approach. Make of that what you will. And no I'm not saying Khan wins, just that these fickle reactions to one fight are tiresome. I'm happy to bet that Khan wins more rounds than Pacquiao, and if Pacman isnt a "special" fighter then I give up on this forum.
