This is gonna be a tough one for Selby. He's gonna just have to use his technical ability and not let Gradovich rough him up. Gradovich has power but it's underrated due to his ko percentage. Selby won't stop Gradovich... If anything Selby is gonna get koed. I will bet on either by decision or a TKO/KO win for Gradovich. I hope Selby wins but some of his fans seem to think this will be easy. I'll be a believer if he beats comfortably but i can't see it. I believe Selby by decision or Gradovich TKO/KO. I think that's safe but Selby could surprise me.
Selby has a massive step up tonight. He has to be smart and show enough power to stop Gradovich walking through him.
Selby is a volume puncher though, don't forget he became a bigger puncher as he got further up in class. he is used to boxing to decisions if he has to and I'm actually glad this a fight where the favourite is regarded is so despite them not being an attraction in America, the fact is Selby will have to pull an Amir Khan and be absolutely awful on the night for Gradovich to win this, and I've probably seen more of Gradovich than Selby when it comes to full fights
I dunno maybe i'm just following a stereotype but eastern europeans usually seem to want it more and are usually from poorer backgrounds. Gradovich seems to have a bit more fight in him but against a technical boxer it probably won't mean much.
Disagree strongly with that, Selby seems like a kid with a bad attitude on him, not very endearing but good for a fighter. remember how he posed over Stephen Smith after KOing him even in front of his brothers Gradovich seems more like a comfy boxer, nice technique but nothing too outside the box It's Selby for me
I think Selby is the better boxer imo but i just feel he may end up coming unstuck with enough pressure put on him. I don't think he's looking past Gradovich but this guy is tough. He's much tougher than Stephen Smith for instance and i also never rated Stephen when he was being praised highly at one point. You could be the best technical boxer in the world but if you can't handle that extra pressure put on you and can't handle being roughed up it doesn't mean much. I do think Selby by decision more so than Evgeny by KO. Robert Garcia was teaching Gradovich to add more pressure. IMO i thought he beat Jayson Velez and even Velez thought it, too. It was a bad decision. If a Maidana-like Gradovich shows up then Selby's in trouble. He's improved since the Billy Dib fights for sure.
Problem is I think Selby has a very very good resume behind him going into this fight so it's not like he's being thrown in against a guy above his class, if anything it's Gradovich in for a shock here. Gradovich is no Maidana, so I doubt he is ever going to walk Selby down into a stoppage. If he pushes the pace, like Algieri did against Khan, then he has a better chance, but only a better chance.
Well in all fairness Rendell Munroe never really recovered from the Quigg TKO loss. Selby fought a bad version and he's pretty much done. Munroe is a decent scalp to have but he was never anything to write home about. I think resume wise he edges it but not really by much as it all depends how you rate the guys by name or in their current predicament. Joel Brunker never really fought anybody before he fought Selby. It was easy money. Selby by decision but it won't be easy. He also has the hometown crowd behind him and other factors like being on a sky show.
Easy fight for Selby. Probably masterclass. Bull against Matador type of fight. Selby gets the feel of Gradovich and figures him out early. Does what he wants with him for the remaining rounds for a wide UD.
