People were saying Algieri was a one-hit wonder prior to tonight but even though he lost he certainly proved that wasn't the case at all. Picking himself off the canvas seconds into the opening round of his first big fight and then proceeding to go on to beat the fearsome punching Ruslan with one good eye for most of the fight should've been enough proof for the doubters and naysayers. But to then give Khan all he could handle after in his comeback fight after a demoralizing and some say embarrassing one-sided loss to Pacquiao just confirmed he belongs. Schooling Taylor was impressive too considering how much trouble Taylor had given Broner. Let's not forget Algieri was a late starter to the sport too. I'm not a fan of his but I think he's definitely proven he's for real now.
I'm rewatching the fight now. I was very impressed with Algieri's effort. I think he feels robbed. He didn't stay around for the post fight interview and it appeared as if he felt he won.
It's like when Bradley put every ounce of his heart and soul into the fight against Ruslan, even if you aren't a fan or you dislike a fighter you've still got to respect that.
Chris did very well. I though he swept the first 4 rounds. Khan didn't know what to do except run and hold.
Those 117 - 111 scorecards were a joke. I was pushing for Chris to win but win, lose or draw he's a far more likeable character than the insidious Khan and deserves every future success.
:good Anyone who saw his fight with Pacquiao will know that Chris Algieri is a tough, game ****er. As his fights with Ruslan and Manny proved. You don't get dropped six times and fight until the final bell, when you literally have no chance whatsoever of winning the fight, if you do not possess an iron will.
