Algieri on the fight "In terms of [Khan's] power, I can't even compare it really to a guy like Ruslan or even a guy like Pacquiao." "He definitely didn't like it when I got into his body. I thought I hurt him several times, but he's a cagey guy. He spins off, and I guess the judges liked that tonight. I think that the cleaner, harder shots would get a little more respect." "I'm disappointed," Algieri said. "But I will watch the film from this fight and move on from there." Khan on the fight [guess what most quotes consist of :dead] "A few mistakes I made. Obviously, I didn't think Algieri would come forward." "I figured he would be on the back foot. [Trainer] Virgil [Hunter] gave me a game plan, and it worked for me." "I think everybody knows Amir Khan wants to fight Floyd Mayweather," "Mayweather is a champion, so let's make it happen." "This is the best Algieri we've seen in a long time, and if he'd have fought Manny (Pacquiao) that way he might have won." This quote is an example of trying to save face. Here's the video of Algieri post fight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0MeFPeKspQ I'll try to find Khan's
I'd rather see Mayweather fight Cotto at 160 or Pacquiao II than Khan. Khan is a pointless fight and as predictable as Ortiz and Guerrero.
Which means it'll probably be the next fight we will get. Best thing Khan could do for himself was look unthreatening, and he nailed that part.
Going by that logic, Mayweather should've fought Khan already. Khan has been non-threateningly barking for this fight since 2013, remember?.
True, but this is the perfect time. He let Khan build his name up a little more, though that performance could damage the PPV buys. But as Floyd says, "It's all about. . .timing."
Algieri will become the new Herrera unfortunately and just like Mauricio he'll come close to or out and out win against many opponents but because of politics and his lack of punching power so the judges won't be sympathetic to him just like they weren't by giving Broner the decision over Paulie. I've be a fan of his and a proponent of his, he has the skills to mix with a lot of the top guys and he proved his level in there tonight.
Everything is about timing. If things don't happen at the right time, people won't care for them. Khan hasn't done much to build anything to be honest. If anything, more fans are convinced he has no chance now than they did before. I also notice more fans(specifically casuals) seeing through the KO ratios of Khan's opponents. Took a while, but they finally are.
you thought the paulie broner fight could go either way :huh. at least algieri had an effect on Amir, Paulie couldn't even scratch the dude.
Algieri I think is better all around and definitely has more power than Paulie. But that doesn't change the fact that Paulie was robbed of at least a draw in that match.
Paulie predicted Khan by KO right before the fight started. I remember when Floyd called Paulie after the Pac fight and told him, "Keep up the good work. You know boxing." I wonder when Floyd will find out that Paulie has Khan easily beating Floyd. I doubt Paulie will be getting calls from Floyd after that, lol.
