so Khan goes from looking absoluetly brilliant against Alexander
    to complete average against Algieri

note 1 month before the Algieri fight khan was saying if he looks too good it will scare mayweather away

So whats smartest thing to do? make yourself look sh-it but get the win put a worse performance in to "Lure floyd mayweather in"

look sh-it/average doing it , fight at a lower level than your ability.

    Nope.

    Its more like this.
Khan watched Algieri's previous fights and saw a guy who fought at range using his jab. Khan thought his speed would make Algieri look slow so cherry picked him so he would look good in order to sell the Mayweather fight as a fight fans wanted to see.

Khan never banked on Algieri getting in a trainer who really did open the cage of algieri and unlocked his potential.
John David Jackson got Algieri roaming forward with power punches which was not the fight Khan signed up for or expected.

Devon Alexander's record doesn't look quite so impressive if you subtract the home country gifts he received against Kotelnik and Matthysse. Even his best win against Maidana isn't that impressive if you don't conveniently ignore the fact that he illegally held Maidana about 119 times. And John Scully said he heard from about five different trusted sources that Maidana was ill for that fight too.

Algieri surprised many, he fight a new style, effective aggression, this just shows Khan has trouble adapting which is a weakness against a fighter like Mayweather

    Styles make fights

Algieri is 100% the biggest guy Khan has ever fought...

He brought different attacks which Khan couldn't handle. The quick overhand right was a nightmare for Khan and going backwards from the pressure left Khan unable to answer for alot of Algieri's attacks.

But he won. By a unanimous decision.
I'd say he adapted fairly well.

Are you certain that Alexander was 100% fit for that fight??? I respect you as a poster but I don't like those cheap ass excuses.

Alexander was tailor made for Khan. He's looked fantastic vesus southpaws and nothing Devon could do would trouble Khan on paper.

Algieri had that reach and height advantage right off the bat so there were always gonna be problems for Khan vs Chris. When you factor in the change in Algieri's style ,as a poster above said, it made things even more awkward for Khan.

Pacquiao kicked the **** out of Algieri and fought Mayweather in his next fight. Why would Floyd be scared off by Khan beating up Algieri?

I have no idea if Alexander was 100% fit for that fight but what I do know is that he was allowed to illegally grab a hold of Maidana 119 times to prevent him from hitting him.

Regarding Maidana being ill. Well I'm just repeating what John Scully said and he seems like a cool guy and he has no reason to lie about it. I've never heard Maidana use it as an excuse for losing that fight nor even mention it either.

The excessive clinching is absolutely a justified ''excuse'' though.

the khan that beat paulie 5 years ago or w/e is the same khan as today

he cant fight goin backwards.. never has been able to never will be able to

the only reason he's looked decent in last few fights is because they were carefully picked opponents

Yes. Khan said so himself. He was not expecting it. Algieri looked a different fighter IMO. Much improved

BS, this is bad for Khan. Mayweather will now say 'he doesn't deserve a fight with me, look at THAT'

Khan isn't as good to the point where he can get in the ring with Chris and hold back, knowing he will still win. This is BS... Khan just couldn't dominate Chris.
