I wasn't really amazed, he put in a spirited effort so for that he must be commended and gave Khan a good fight, but he lost and convincingly so. I didn't give him more than 3-4 rounds.

I've always been fair. Unlike other fans, I don't consider criticism illegal towards fighters I support even when the criticism is fair. I simply don't allow emotions to overshadow reality when it comes to fighters I support. That's why I openly criticized Mayweather, Pacquiao, Taylor, both Klitschkos, Froch, Ward, Alvarez...etc when they deserved it.

    Thanks. :good

He definitely needs to take on Cotto for the lineal MW title. There's much more money in that fight compared to fighting Amir Khan, and Cotto actually brings something else besides a big fanbase to the table- he's the lineal champion at MW.

The Cotto fight has so much more significance attached to it. If Floyd were to beat him (i'd favor him heavily in a rematch with MIguel,) he'd be the lineal champion in 3 weight classes simultaneously. That's on a Henry Armstrong level.

I used to think a fight between him and Khan could be exciting, but after I saw how easily Algieri was landing his right hand, it made me feel like this would be a fairly simple fight for Mayweather that could possibly end in stoppage.

For someone thats usually relatively level headed your hatred for Golovkin is completely unfounded.
Sure his fans can be annoying but the guy fought every contender which was deemed worthy enough for other champions and the rest have been clearly ducking him.
Even boxing writer Stephen Edwards has given him very high praise...

This "they were ranked" discussion is nonsensical. It's well-known already that rankings in the sport are easily exploitable. Remember when David Haye was ranked for talking trash to Wladimir before he even made the move to Heavyweight?. That's just one example out of 1000 that I could mention. It's really not hating when I say that these opponents were designed to make Golovkin look good. Come on now, how could any rational fan still argue and attempt to defend him when he opens up as a 200/1 and 100/1 favorite against these fighters. Were the bookies unfounded too?. How often do 200/1 favorites lose?.

Sure, I'll accept that these opponents are what the division has to offer, that's understandable and acceptable. I can't argue against that because it would be unfounded. But to support Golovkin for wanting paydays and even setting up demands such as "I won't move down for Alvarez, but will move down for Mayweather" is comically deluded. The man is fighting stiffs and calling out Welterweights for paydays yet he's being defended for it, do you think that's rational?. Fighters that wanted paydays didn't sit on their asses while devouring hopeless fighters. They pursued it themselves by taking risks. Mayweather moved up, RJJ moved up, Leonard moved up, Hearns, Duran, Pacquiao, Hatton...etc. If they sat on their asses and called out smaller opponents they would've been crucified for it by the media and justifiably so.

As far as getting journalistic praise, that's nothing shocking at all. Usually fan friendly styles will always easily get praises. Were you around when Antonio "Hands of Plaster" Concreto was getting hilarious praises in 2006?. At least to the cheating scumbag's credit, he had a win over Cintron in a fight he wasn't expected to win.

And what do you score...his feet or his punches? Algieri was not always an effective aggressor, his hands and feet weren't on the same page. Good fight though, PBC keeps getting better!

Fair enough and i somewhat agree with what you said.
Still though i don't think you can knock Golovkin too hard .. he seems to fight everyone available and when you fight as frequently as him some lesser fighters will creep in there.

And for crying out loud the guy is trying to get Froch into the ring as his first fight at 168... i think that deserves some credit.

Just saying i usually like your posts.... and i tend to take notice when you post something as it often is a very level headed opinion even on fighters you are a fan off like Mayweather.

It just seemed like lately you put a lot of hate towards GGG and i could not figure out why.. it seemed a bit excessive.

It is excessive, I'll admit that. I absolutely despise people that try to ruin any person's great moment or excitement with their own mental miseries, or in other words party ****ers. I regularly scold such people off even personally and do it with passion. But I guess I couldn't help but remind most of his fans that the celebrations are overly excessive for beating opponents he's overly expected to beat. I did go overboard though and came across as just another gullible troll on here at some points, I'll admit that. :yep

I do respect that he wants to fight Froch next, but lets see if it's officially signed then the fireworks are on. If it's Froch's fault the fight isn't signed, then Golovkin deserves credit and I'll be the first in line to say it.

I highly appreciate the honesty and compliments. Got to admit that debating with someone like you who's equally level headed and isn't shy to stand up for himself when he's right yet will also fairly admit when he's wrong is extremely rare, especially on the internet. It was an absolute pleasure and a breath of fresh air for a much needed change. I definitely look forward to more discussions in the future. :good

I appreciate the kind words and thanks for clarifying your position.
You are right some people are way too quick to praise someone into the heavens.

It probably has something to do with the fact that GGG has won me over and i "suspect" he could be something special, but im holding off until a elite will actually get into the ring with him.

Looking forward to having more discussions in the future as well :good

    Why not?!

    Danny is:

Undefeated (though Herrera and Peterson wins were controversial)

Beat some good fighters (Morales, Khan, Mattheysse)

Latin with a decent fan base

Also managed by Al Haymon and has no immediate dates or opponents lined up.

I hope he fights Danny in September

Is the post not moreso about Algieri? A boxing fan should be able to look at each fighters performance individually and objectively, it doesn't always have to be about the other guy.
