Absolute Bull Feces!! I knew Kirk the whole time he was training at Curtis Cokes Home of Champions gym in Dallas Tx Kirk was a very talented boxer & could hit hard . He had been pushing for a title shot & his chance finally came up to challenge John Ruiz for the WBC title. That fight was what ruined Kirk. He was robbed by Ruiz Oscar worthy acting & Joe Cortez corrupt or inept officiating watch the fight again & decide. Every time Kirk threw a body shot Ruiz reacted & cried LOW!! Cortez duly warned Kirk falling for it completely. This happened time & again. Suddenly Ruiz threw the most blatant headbutt I have ever seen thrown Kirk reacted Cortez conveniently " didn't see it". Then Kirk threw a great body shot & down went Ruiz rolling in fake agony claiming low blow. Cortez dutifully immediately DQ'd Kirk for which was a legitimate body blow KO. It was a blatant robbery Kirk & I sat & watched the supposed many low blows on the fight tape in slow motion & only two punches were on the borderline. After that Kirk lost interest & stopped training properly. He was offered a fight with Lennox Lewis a warm up for his supposed defense against Vitali. Kirk backed out supposedly injured The rest is history The Kirk Johnson who got in the ring with Vitali after that was not the Kirk Johnson I knew. Kirk was there purely for the paycheck he hadn't trained & was woefully out of shape & overweight. The Kirk Johnson I knew in Dallas would have likely boxed robotic Vitali's ears off. It was a tragedy for Kirk & for Curtis Cokes who also had Ike Ibeabuchi. both capable but both failed to win a world title for Curtis one of the best trainers I ever knew
So long story short you sucked kirk off once but he never called Oh and Ruiz never got nowhere near the WBC title idiot
You silly little boy grow up I was in & around Texas boxing from mid eighties till 2005. Watched Kirk. Ike Quincy Taylor & Paulie Ayala through the majority of their pro careers as well as champions like Donald Curry , Gene Mad Dog Hatcher, Litlle Stevie Cruz, Troy Dorsey etc at Dave Gormans legendary Super Pro's gym in Ft Worth Texas Take a little advice & try to learn a little about boxing before you make such a fool of yourself again OK
