After Saturdays show with Joshua being his only saving grace, How do people feel on his ability as a trainer after both Ryder and Mitchell suffering crushing loses ?? Ive never really been convinced by the man atall who seems to lack personality and authority and from various IFL videos ive seen some of his pad work is shambolic and so one paced and lackluster its unbelievable, During the minute inbetween rounds he never seems to grab a fighters attention and could actually put a fighter to sleep with his tone

I think there are a lot more talented trainers in the UK and I think he is lucky that he is that close to Hearn that said he has trained a world champion and I haven't

Must agree with you Stevie. Connections seem to be the only reason that Simms is training world-level talent. The fact his kids are TOWIE dolts says a lot too.

Well Mitchell was expected to lose really, he was the underdog going into the fight and he in fact dominated the fight and was leading up until the stoppage which is unfortunate in the way it came about. Ryder was also boxing very well and then git caught by a lot of good shots by Blackwell which is a poor result but that happens in boxing. I do though think he has done a great job with AJ and he has developed very well under him.

Ryder was boxing well, Mitchell put in a good performance before coming up short due to the grotesque eye injury and AJ knocked seven shades of **** out of Johnson.

From what I've seen of Sims he seems a good trainer. Eddie and Matchroom wouldn't put a load of there main boys under him if he couldn't cut it and McCracken wouldn't have him involved with Froch either.

    Troy & Stevie
Yes Tony & Peter had a stable of fighters. Used to train Paul S**** Iron Ryan and also a very good trainer Stevie & I've worked with him in the past too mate. Trainers, fighters & promoters all have good and bad spells throughout

Someone recently posted on this board that another trainer allegedly trains AJ but keeps it under wraps because of his amateur job.

If Simms and Hearn didnt go way back, he wouldn't have AJ, Mitchell (again), or Burns.

every time a fighter loses the trainer gets the blame.

I've never rated Simms. Even in his Barker days. Especially after seeing Barker sparring Diego Burton for the Sturm fight.
