I have Floyd ranked #9 on my ATG list, what would he need to get to top 5? Or beyond?

    Discuss.

He has 1-2 fights left in his career. What fights would he need to make that jump.

No. 9 huh??? whats your top 8?

  3. There is a Cotto rematch for the Lineal MW title but that would definitely ruin the lineage that brought that belt prestige in the first place because Floyd would drop the belt. It would be a good fight regardless and a good payday for both. Other than that nothing short of fighting 2-3 weight classes above welter to please the public.

Posting a top 25-50 is going to have to require an in depth look at the greats... when all is said and done i dont see floyd or pacquaio in the top 20-25 imo.....

I could see grounds for ranking either one as high as 20-25 or as low as 40-45.

i could see that, but i got to know what MVC!'s criteria is for judging a top 10 ATG list....but imo Floyd is higher ranked then Pacquiao is imo...

I know he doesn't have very many pre WWII guys in his top 10. If he doesn't want to rank guys in his ATG list whom there is not extensive full-fight footage of then that's perfectly fine by me as long as he is consistent.

Noone from 140-154 would contribute Floyd's legacy.

Agreed :nod It's easy to say "so and so is a top 10/25/50 ATG" without context. Not so easy to say when you have to justify the names that fall ahead or behind them.

Floyd is already in my top 5. I cannot name 5 boxers who I think are greater but I do think you can make a case that he's anywhere in the top 10.

For him to be in the top 5 for certain will depend on who he fights in his next fight. If he fights Cotto or GGG then he very well should be in the top 5.

Jesus, top 5 is rarefied air. For me the top 4 are absolutely indisputable, you can sort the order however you like. Langford, Robinson, Greb and Armstrong. So you're saying he's next after those 4 out of all the boxers in history?
