I have Floyd ranked #9 on my ATG list, what would he need to get to top 5? Or beyond?

I'm a Big Picture type guy too, just like I've laid out a plan of how to play kirk's challenge, I also laid out my plan when doing my Educate Yourselves Thread with the goal of having a master thread, Over 300 profile threads in under 8 months, that's almost a book I've written, most of which I pre planned.:yep

Naw, ive fought a few times in indio cali through the high desert showdown... last time was in the masters division when i was 23 in 2007.... im 31 now... we got a couple of good pros out here, like Alex "lil Kaboom" JImenez who retired 2-0,Anthony,"baby assasin" Villareall who fought on the Pacquaio vs Margarito undercard against richie manaprim who i thought did no better then a draw.. then we got another fighter from paramount who resides here in perris named Hector "Teco" serrano who fought in the main event of golden boy live against Juan Garcia...my son trains at the P-town boxing academy and is 14-2... Mikey Garcia used to train at my sons gym too...its a great thing, im still very much involved in boxing..:thumbsup

I grew up in Palmdale training at the Antelope Valley Boxing Gym (ran by Mark Wills & Tom Conrad). Then I moved to Georgia, worked with some Southeastern boxers (Keith McKnight, Josue Blocus, Shazzon Bradley, Cedric Boswell, Darnell Boone, Anthony Hanshaw, Moultrie Witherspoon, Sharif Kemp, Preston Haliburton, Kevin Johnson)....when KINGPIN fought Damian Wills I was conflicted, my fighter vs my old trainer's son...!!!

:nono You are far from consistent. You clearly haven't made much of an effort with Armstrong, Charles, and Moore in particular.

I happen to be far more fond of many of the fighters I grew up watching than old fighters who no one has seen, who's career are largely bolster by wins over nobodies and bums. I'm not particularly fond of their style of fighting back then, I think their mythical skill sets are vastly overrated, most of them are considered legends because they're old and nothing more.I've never been to much of a sentimental type when it comes to the past, I judge for myself like with films, I've seen 100's of films pre 1960's and many of the films that are considered great are anything but, and many of the films that were overlooked or scoffed at are in my opinion great. I don't let popular opinion sway me on ANYTHING.

No, I had a family issue to tend too. This was the first fight since Robert hawkins I did not work with KJ. But I already told KJ and my other boxers that I was leaving the sport as a trainer / cutman and moving on to a better life with more financial stability.

Gonna miss being in the corner, locker room, training camps, etc. but I gotta do what's beneficial for my future (and I only have one chance so I'm taking it).

They are not considered great because they are old and nothing more, that is too vast an oversimplification for someone who claims to be as an intelligent as you seem to think you are to to possibly believe. You keep calling these fighters the ones who "no one has seen"...well that's not the case, and in many instances there is still ample footage available. It's fine to say it's as simple for you as preferring the fighters from your era, but just be consistent. Don't put f*cking Jake LaMotta at 25 and then leave off Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore. :patsch

You're going for an anti-pretentious/historian stance but end up floundering somewhere in between. Just make a list with hard cut-offs and stick to them. Or make a list of your top 25 favorite fighters of all time who could be considered ATGS - which seems to be what this is closer to. Oh and also, to have JCC at #9 and ODLH at #21 and then completely omit Sweet Pea is mind boggling to me.
