Sigh. I can't believe how much time on these forums is spent by people trying to defend this BS. No boxer has earned the right to make sub-par fights to line their pockets in my eyes. None. How do you determine the level/age where you can start shaking the fans down for cash? Not May, not Pac, not Canelo. I am a fan of boxing, I have never given a fist pump for a smart business decision or a standing ovation for best risk:reward ratio gained. Don't get me wrong, I totally understand their desire to do so, they have put in the hard yards and risk their health - they want to maximise their payday. But to me we as boxing fans are supposed to be the counter balance to the promoters and money grabbers. They push for low-risk high-reward and we push back, hopefully the net effect is that decent fights get made in a reasonable timeframe, there is the occasional gimme but also sometimes a real big fight. If Cotto fights Geale, Canelo then drops the title it wouldn’t be the worst thing, they are decent fights. Canelo fight would be competitive but for me it doesn’t even need to be for a title. Leaving your mando out in the cold when he is seen by most as the man of the division is weak. To then try and talk him down and fight his leftovers is laughable, whilst defending the title at catch-weights. And lets not forget Cotto is already in the bonus round. He hadn’t had a meaningful win at JMW and the Martinez fight was a calculated gamble, either one last decent payday or hope Sergio is shot to shiz and claim another title in another division. He should now have the good grace to give bow out or take the fight not make stupid statements to denigrate his most obvious challenger so he can try to cash in. The worst thing about this is I used to be a huge Cotto fan but his actions since winning the title leave a bad taste in my mouth.
I was ringside in Texas for Cotto's first 2 pro fights & thought he wasgoing to be big. In fact the night he fought my friend Tony Margarito I was undecided who I wanted to win. I thought Tony would & he did legitimately What turned me against Cotto since that fight he's turned into a prima donna. The final straw was when he jumped on the bandwagon & proclaimed Tony had loaded gloves in their fight & :|:| foul. He didn't want a rematch until he knew Tony's eye had been permanently damaged by Manny Pacquaio. Watch that fight again & see Cotto target that eye lacing his glove across it at every opportunity. Even with one good eye Tony was coming on strong & beating his chest as Cotto wilted. Only then did that NY doc decide to stop the fight. Not to save Tony's eye but to save Cotto QUITTING on his knees AGAIN!!!!! Cotto couldn't even beat a one eyed fighter , He couldn't legitimately finish a one legged fighter in Yuri Foreman. I wont even mention the crippled Sergio Martinez. I hope Geale has a really good night & blasts the coward into retirement.
People are seriously upset over a TUNEUP fight, everybody has em. People talk about GGG 85% of his fight's are tuneup fight's. Cotto's last opponent was better than every fighter on GGG's resume and his next opponent after Geale (Alvarez) is also better than any of GGG's opponents. People are seriously mad in his 2nd fight at MW(his 4th division) he took a tuneup vs Geale who also happens to be GGG's BEST WIN GTFOH.
Typical mindless reply from a troll that DKSAB . I really think there should be an intelligence test taken before people are allowed to post on this forum. The poster above wouldn't have passed :nut
If Cowardly Cotto ever has the cojones to step in the ring with GGG would you call GGG's demolition job he'd do0 on Cotto as GGG's best win????????
:yep the kneegals are funny Cotto rather play ass grab with the elastic man than man up and fight GGG
