Should they be sanctioned as title fights.

Floyd made Canelo weight drain below 154

Cotto fights Geale for MW title at 157

I think it undermined weight classes and such fights should be non title catchweights

    Ray Leonard was King.

Not least for getting the WBC to sanction a fight for both the 168lbs and 175lbs titles against their light Heavy champ Donny Lalonde...

Geale at 157 is still a middleweight; indeed in this instance Geale at 57lbs would still be a Middleweight... A catchweight match could only happen in this instance if someone weighed more than 160.

Why should it not be allowed? If it is contracted and everyone knows the score, what is the problem?

I think it blurs the weight divisions

If Floyd is 154 champ he should not make opponents get down to near 147 and still defend at LMW

There is no lower weight limit in championship boxing; so where is the blurring?

middleweight is 160lb so if you are fighting for that title you can weigh anything up to 160 nothing more, if the title and governing body says 160lb for the middleweight title then why should there be a restriction?

If Geale comes in above 157 but not above 160. Could Cotto refuse to fight him and not be stripped of his MW title?

Cotto @ 153lb still defending WBC 160lb title

    Floyd @ 147lb holding 154lb WBC 154lb since 2013

Would prefer strip Floyd of the 154lb belt. Cotto to fight Canelo for it in September

GGG to fight for 160 belt in September

Title fights should be at the weight for the title otherwise divisions get blurred. Donny Lalonde v SRL was a bad precedent which should not be repeated

Because you have signed a contract. Ultimately it is a money thing.

    middlewight is technically 155lbs - 160lbs

The middleweight limit is 160 lbs

so technically Cotto vs Geale was still @ middleweight

tho i dont agree with it those r the facts

Who gives a **** about titles. Anyone can get a title these days. We know who the true champions are...
