yup apologies i seen u then write something similar to that a few posts later.

However my point kinda still stands .... Now fighters are sold on what fighters are like outside the ring half the time. However double edge sword the in order to sell the fight to the casuals then they need to be interstin, the hardcore fans dont give a fook! Golovkin to the average Western person are boring as hell barely speak english and are quite quiet between fights ... the hardcore fans will never miss one of their fights !

So i suppose in a sense you are right in order for them to become a superstar they are gonna need some sorta personality unfortunately. Stange cos not many sports are really like that .... Federer - boring, Murray - boring, - Messi - boring, Ronaldo - boring ... u do get the exception to the rule however like Bolt, Maradonna etc..

David Lemieux is a KO artist, has personality and has charisma and can speak english. He already has some of the star archetype criteria checked already- but he'll still has a lot to prove. He needs the IBF title first and continue improving his overall skills (defense, diversifying his attacks etc), then start getting shots with the big names and keep his work ethics and out of the ring behaviour in check.

    :good

I think the critical difference I'd note with GGG/Messi/Federer is that their style is still exciting to a casual fan even if they are not exciting as people. Crawford is a terrific fighter but his style is a little more sophisticated than what the casual fan might be able to appreciate - which basically comes out to "IT'S THE THIRD ROUND, WHY HASN'T HE KNOCKED HIM OUT YET!?!? TYSON WOULD HAVE KNOCKED THIS GUY OUT FOR SURE BY NOW!!" And whilst I agree GGG is not an over the top personality his inability to speak English has become kind of it's own charming gimmick. Whilst Crawford, wonderful fighter that he is, is essentially just a complete bore in interviews. So he's kind of not really hitting on either of the key areas. Sad, but just sort of the way it is today :conf

I agree, elite skillset does not make a superstar when you have no personality.

Keith Thurman has a legit chance, he's American, he passes the eye test in the ring and on the mic.

Interesting shout. He's a good looking chap too, which never hurts. He's certainly marketable if he's good enough. But the question is, is he good enough?

Yep, Thurman's another one with a shot. I'd put his chances of becoming a fully fledged "superstar" behind Canelo and the next generation of HWs (Wilder/Fury/AJ) but not too far behind. HWs have a built-in advantage as do fighters with a passionate national or ethnic fan base.

Now i dont have any evidence and this is just a slight feeling i have so dont jump on me for this. First of all i like watching Thurman fight not so much talk ! but i have a slight feeling he might be a lil chinny .... When he was in with Bundu i thought he was very very cagey and took no chances at all as if he was protecting something ... It may have been he was working on fighting on the outside cos he seen the fight as being fairly straight forward but i aint 100% convinced. We will see tho if he has the chin then he has a real chance

Yup, that remains to be seen indeed. He's still young and I believe that asking this question is already a plus, as we can't state at this point for sure that he's not. He definitely needs to nail the next milestone on June 20th against N'Dam and grab the IBF belt, with a K.O. preferably, for added visibility.

agree if AJ can prove to be the real deal he will be one of the biggest stars of the game ever. He has the public average joe backing already, his body shape instantly sells him to the casual fan and the fact that so far he has been demolishing his tin cans. Put it this way id say right now already Joshua is the biggest name in British boxing at least to the casuals anyway and id be fairly confident about that

I'd imagine it must still be Froch, no? But it's been 25 years since I moved to the states so I'll defer to one who's actually still in the thick of it! Whether he's 1, 2 or whatever at this stage of his career he's already a rapidly growing brand and way ahead of schedule! Plus he looks like he really has the goods to back it up long term. If Wlad's still champ when AJ gets his title shot and he's the man to take the title from Wlad he'll be a megastar.
