    Beating one of the top ten let alone one of the top 2 of this generation in convincing fashion, regardless whether the public were entertained, the rules of the game are outpointing your opponent if you can't knock him out, is a worthy contender for fighter of the year. Reducing Manny to 19% accuracy and outlanding him are also noteworthy achievements, which even zealous Pacquiao robots cannot detract from unless they bang the 'He beat a 1 armed fighter and didn't stay in the pocket to get punched in the mouth!' drum.

    boxer of the year, maybe, but not fighter of the year. a defensive boxer who hugs, runs to avoid exchanges and just score points to win is not deserving of that title. his father even saw he was scared.

    Can't disagree with boxer instead of fighter but it takes a massive amount of guts to get in there with Maidana and get in the trenches because he FORCED floyd to dig deeper unlike Pacquiao, so the anger should be directed at manny.
