I'm not trashing on Froch. He's one of my most respected fighters. But when I see him I see a very simple gameplan. 1. Drop hands 2. Walk straight towards opponent 3. Get punched in face 4. Walk through 5. 1-2-1-2-1-2 Destroy Opponent
His chin, stamina down the stretch, jab is reasonably effective, heavy hands, sheer force of will... demoralizing the other guy by remaining like a stone golem from round 1 to 12 without relinquishing any of the attributes that were there from the opening bell... I'm sure others will break it down and produce some technical ****ysis I can't be bothered right now lol
I remember during the first Kessler fight how Bernstein (or Taylor?) said that Froch is the type of guy who you think sucks on tape....but for whatever stupid reason, he always ends up winning. His jab and attacks seem easy enough to dodge....but there is something different about him once in the ring. Kinda like how its weird to think that a stupid wild swinging idiot like Mayorga was able to beat Forrest and other reasonably top quality boxers.
It works against opponents who are even worse than he is. We could do a similar break down of Arthur Abraham's style which is even more pathetic. There's no mystery to how even Froch can school him.
Biggest two factors right here but in reverse order. It's a stamina-based sport. Conditioning! Conditioning! Conditioning!
Is this meant to be sarcastic? It's a skill based sport, and it only goes for 36 minutes with breaks every 3 minutes. Boxers aren't amazingly conditioned, there are athletes with far greater endurance than boxers. Being fast and strong is more important for winning than conditioning is as well.
Froch's style is be bigger than his opponent, block punches with his face and outwill the guy. Works against mentally fragile fighters such as Bute. Doesn't work so well against the Wards and Dirrells of the world. Also gets you hurt by Taylor, Kessler, Groves, Dirrell. Froch has an overrated chin, he gets hurt. He recovers well. A very simple fighter and his determination has allowed him to become a good but not great fighter.
Not sarcastic at all. Stamina is one of the most important factors in boxing easily. Very few great boxers throughout history have stamina issues. Many of the very good boxers thought to go on to become great had stamina issues... You can be the fastest boxer ever or the strongest boxer ever but if you can only be that for a short duration then it will not translate to great success and those skills mean nothing if they don't end or clinch fights in your favor before they dissipate from lack of conditioning. See: everybody who has punched themselves out before and everyone who lost after their opponent caught up to their movement. Or every time a fighter just gassed out in general and was getting tagged throughout the end of a fight they were previously dominating (Garcia vs. Judah last 3 rounds). More often than not for that last description it isn't because the opponent "figured them out."
Floyd Mayweather could afford to buy a much larger mercenary army and better military equipment. Obviously I'd choose him. If you choose Froch; you lose. I don't know any of their personal opinions on warfare tactics or weapon training, so those are other unknown factors. ...what a silly post you made there.
no id1ot , your response was the silly part . where did i mention about buying tanks and infantry . you knew exactly what i meant you just chose to be a smarta$$ with a stupid reply .
He's basically Rocky Marciano but without the great punching power. He beats guys with better technique because he has superior conditioning, stamina, and recuperative power. When his opponents get tired after six or seven rounds of running around using him like a punching bag, he's still fresh as a daisy. He becomes way stronger than them toward the end of a long fight and suddenly his opponents have slowed down enough that he can hit them. Enough pop has also come off their punches that he can take them, but their punch resistance isn't as good anymore so he's doing more damage.
He's willing to take shots to get in range, he's not deterred by punches that usually disrupt an opponent's rhythm.
I watched the froch/Magee fight again yesterday, it's pretty funny, Magee is just pain in the **** for froch.
