At middleweight I've always felt Hagler and Hearns would be you're best bet to beat him. I feel Hearns could use his jab to win rounds and off set Roy coming in. Not only that he'd have his right hand waiting and I could potentially see him putting out Jones's lights if he catches him coming in. Also Hearns has the speed to keep up with Jones.. Hagler I think would be consistent enough and wouldn't be denied should he face Jones. I feel Hagler would keep the pressure on with tight defense walk through lots of Jones's flurries to bring his attack. Hagler would establish more control as the fight goes on and sometime in the late rounds anywhere from 10th on I see him breaking Jones down and finishing him off in a very hard fought victory. At light heavyweight I favor Michael Spinks and Bob Foster. I think both of them take Jones out with a right hand.
Hagler takes him out just like the man said. I'm not sure about Spinks or Monzon. My money would be on Roy
Carlos Monzon at 160 is a pick em vs Roy Jones. Archie Moore is probably the next closest thing(I slightly favor Roy) everyone else gets beaten with ease. lol at Hagler beating Roy. Hagler would try and pin Roy up against the ropes Roy would push Haglers head down eat up Haglers body shots like he did with everyone then flurry and win rounds. Haglers is just too small. Spinks and Foster both get KO'd by left hooks they don't see coming.
Jones was still green at middleweight, I just don't see him in the Hagler, Monzon, and Robinson echelon. A dark horse candidate I'd put forth is Jake Lamotta for all the trouble he gave Robinson in spite of his athleticism. He's good at slipping punches coming inside, puts on constant pressure, and I believe he would have Roy slowed down in the later rounds because of his body attack.
What evidence is their Jones was Green at MW? Also who ever slowed Roy down with a body attack. Roy invited guys to hit his body and never once slowed down.
Your obsession with Jones is scary. I'd say that Spinks, Patterson, Hagler, Harold Johnson, Robinson, Foster, and Charles would all have good chances to beat Roy.
