Champions that have been Murdered

    Apologies for the morbid topic, but I was just reading a very sad article about Corrie Sanders. Sanders, as we all know, gained some fame by upsetting a young Wladimir Klitschko, battering him in quick fashion. I didn't know Sanders was murdered in 2012 - shot to death by robbers in his native South Africa.

    What other champions have been murdered? I know Sonny Liston's death is a question mark for some, but I'm curious if other examples exist.

    Some think Arguello was murdered, though it was ruled a suicide. Tyrone Everet was murdered. He wasn't technically a champion but really he was because Escalera got a very bogus decision over him shortly before his death. Contender Djuan Johnson was murdered. He fought Pryor.

    Oscar Bonavena was NEVER champion, but he was murdered in Nevada 1976...

    He was having an affair with some mobsters ol lady, and back in those days they took care of business the hard way..

    Hector Camacho was shot dead as he was sat in a car.

    Vernon Forrest was shot dead after chasing after a man who tried to rob him.

    There's doubts about wether Freddie Mills was murdered although I think the official verdict was suicide.
