You gotta put an asterisk behind this win. I'm a Cotto fan but still.

I am Cotto's biggest critic but that was an impressive performance and has convinced me of his viability as a fighter. Golovkin and Alvarez will still murder him, but respect for not fighting a cripple. Geale is probably a top-5 middleweight. And he's definitely a quitter.

They say that a fighter's punch resistance can decrease after a big KO. Cracking the chin, they call it. I think Geale's will has been cracked.

I agree, I don't believe Geale was drained like some claim.

OK it was a good performance and a great shot to start the finish but it isn't as if nobody was not mentioning the weight issue before the fight.

Yesterday people were saying Geale looked dead at the weight so it is hard to give Cotto full credit.

F*** No he gets 0 credit for draining a guy to near death and then shock of all shocks KO's him, that was the idea behind draining him.

Something about Geale's weight issues? :conf

Honestly the last week I didn't follow any of that, was a little busy. What's the scoop with that? Geale was a little too heavy a week out and then had to cut a bunch in a couple of days? Isn't that on him?

Whatever. To my eyes, viewing this fight in a vacuum without knowing much about the weight issues, this was more or less the same Geale that Golovkin demolished, and Cotto did so in nearly as dominant a fashion.

The weight cutting wouldn't have helped Geale but massive credit to Cotto, it's slightly tainted but other fighters have done it, Cotto performed brilliantly, ruthlessly and he is not a natural MW, Geale was not handicapped like Martinez no knees Maravilla, I thought Cotto would win regardless and put some leather on Geale but this was an impressive win, catchweight yes, but he looked damn resurgent again.

Once again though, you go up in weight, you suck it up and don't complain about it, and you also take the plaudits if you look good on the other hand.

Expect to hear the "he drained him" argument from the detractors. And he did. Doesn't detract from the fact that he looked really good in there against a guy who naturally a lot bigger than he was.

    Cotto-Canelo is 50/50 and mouth-watering.

 you predicted a Geale victory after you had seen the weigh-in.
    Man up!
