HUGE difference between a one-pound variance for Geale from his usual weight and Dawson boiling off 7lbs having not made SMW in years.. :huh

''Problem is Floyd doesn't get tired and we've seen Canelo fade in fights before.. Having to take off that extra two pounds is.. people think it's just two pounds but when you already struggling to make 154 that extra two pounds is a lot. He [Canelo] is going to put on a lot of weight but he's not going to be able to put on the right kind of weight in just 24 hours. So he's gonna feel the fact that he's, you know, stripped his body, cutting his muscles to get to 152.''

Me too to be honest, it MIGHT have been a much more competitive fight, we will never know but yeah it takes the shine off as you say.

Lost in Cotto's performance is Roach was looking rough, and I wonder if a lot of the praise from Cotto came from knowing Roach isn't in a good place...I mean I hope i'm wrong and decent chance I am wrong, but between how Roach looked tonight, him sitting in the chair during the celebration and people asking him how he was doing, and Cotto laying on the praise, I wonder.

Cotto is clearly on PED's the backne pre Martinez fight should tell you something about that, think about it, he was 154 against Trout and his punches had no effect, yet now he's dropping big Middleweights left and right at 154 still, I don't care if I was wrong, Cotto is doping and that should be clear as day right now.

When do you think Canelo-Cotto will be held? Will it be May for Cinco De Mayo/Puerto Rican day parade? Or before?

:conf Fine - he's usually between ¼ and 1 ¼lb under the limit - point is, he isn't a habitual right-on-the-line 160-on-the-nose guy. It has been exactly five years since he weighed in heavier than ¼ under the MW limit.

Cotto is a diva ***** for asking for a catch weight, I won't deny that (I loathe catch weights more than anyone) but at the end of the day this was three pounds. In other words, between 2¾ and 1¾ less than what Geale usually weighs in. Not a lot. Not a "Ward vs. Dawson" lot, anyway.

Still a catch weight. Besides Dawson was the one who challenged Ward at 168 after he beat Hopkins.

    :deal

    This.

I can't believe that not a single one of Lampley, Kellerman or Jones even Mentioned the blatant headbutt that stunned the hapless Geale and allowed the clean hook to decide the bout !

    And no Geale interview ?

'Cotto also fought at a 145-pound catchweight in his 2009 loss to Manny Pacquiao, his lightest weight in more than three years at the time that bout occurred. He has fought in the 154-pound division since then.

"He was a dead man walking when he went into the ring," Ellerbe said. "The casual fan doesn't know what difference one or two pounds can make when a fighter is already down to weight. Fighters know."

I bet $1k on the Under 9.5 rounds, for the record, even without knowing much about the weight deal. (all I knew was that Geale had several left to shed a week or so ago, which had some people worried...didn't even realize it was a catch weight)

Point is, Cotto was always going to demolish Geale. This was about styles, and levels - not weight.
