It's hard to say what a Prime Martinez would have done.

You have to remember, not only was Martinez recovering from multiple surgeries, but he was also an older fighter.

THE key emphasis on the word FIGHTER.

I never seen him called a COWARD by his own father for RUNNING ON TV like a straight BlTCH.

I never seen that in my LIFE!!!!!!

Roy Jones keeps his heads down, so do SRL, SRR. It a part of a boxing style. Mayweather had his hands down before...is he an amatuer.

The MW division is weak as f***. Geale's ranking means little. Tell yourself what you'd like, you know deep down Martinez was well past his best.

What kind of flack would Floyd have taken for fighting Delvin and Daniel in 2 of his last 3. Come on, man.

I like Cotto, but we saw this exact same script when he first jumped to 154. These soft touches aren't going to help him v Canelo...and I favor Cotto slightly to win that fight.

I dont care who's past there best, nobody was picking Cotto to win so screw that!! like that matters. lets take away everybodys wins in boxing because a certain fighter wasnt at his best, make everybody retire by 30 if thats the case :patsch:patsch

The dumb S**T ppl say just to discredit a man.

it doesnt matter how weak is a division, all u can do is fight top contenders. thats why GGG and Cotto fought Geale so please shut up

Tim Bradley is a better fighter than Cotto and would probably beat him if they fought this year. And he also has a better resume.

Geale was severely drained and that was obvious. I think if he was fully hydrated his punch resistance and reflexes would have been better. And he wouldn't have felt like sh!t and quit the first opportunity he got.

Foreman and Martinez were both crippled. The Foreman fight was stopped because of the leg injury, if you recall. Martinez is retiring because he can't even train.

Clottey would have been a DECENT win, if it wasn't a robbery.

Trout would also have been a DECENT win, if it wasn't a loss.

Margarito may or may not be a cheater, but he did beat Cotto like a red-headed stepchild until he quit.

Pacquiao and Mayweather didn't just beat him, they took him apart. And Mayweather is right up there with Honest Bob Arum as far as people whose words I take at face value

Cotto is getting rekt when he fights top guys. That is all.

Canelo came into the weigh-in looking worse than Geale. I mean he had white crusty sh!t on the side of his mouth and he sat down. I didn't see Geale sitting down in the weigh in. Yet people still praise Mayweather's win over Canelo.

What I don't get is how some people can defend the catchweight, and still claim Cotto didn't need it. If that's true, then all the catch did was remove any chance of a competitive or entertaining fight and turn it into WWE.

"Hey, we can beat this guy easy anyway.... but lets make him super weak so he gets crushed harder, heck maybe he will get injured."

Really? That's the kind of boxing you want to watch?

Why do people need to see Cotto beat Canelo to give him praise?

Personally, I think Geale gives Canelo a tough fight.
So, why should anyone discredit Cotto's performance over someone like Geale?

Say what you will about Geale but Cotto didn't just beat him, he outclassed, outworked and put a beating on him. From the opening bell, Cotto controlled that fight.

Canelo is a good fighter but is he good enough to beat Cotto?

The question should not start with "is Cotto good enough". I think Cotto is a more talented, more dynamic and overall more skilled fighter than Canelo.

Other than the weight, I think Cotto has everything required to beat Canelo.

The only lacklustre performances of Cotto's career IMO is the loss to Austin Trout & the fight with Judah...since then, he has come leaps and bounds. If Cotto and Trout were to fight again, I would put money on Cotto winning that fight comfortably. Look at his damn resume! Who has he lost to? 2 HOF fighters and one guy with suspected loaded gloves?! Who he came back to avenge anyway!

    Just my 2 cents...

Cotto may be better now but I believe his recent level of comp has a lot to do with how good he's been looking. The MW division clearly just isn't that good right now.
