This fight is at 160 lbs, for 15 rounds.

    How does this shake out?

LaMotta was a natural 160 guy, Sugar was best at 147-154,i think Jake's pressure would have worn Leonard down in a long 15 round fight, and Leonard just didn't have the power at this weight to keep the iron chinned LaMotta off him..

    Jake by close UD..

Considering the other " Sugar" was pushed hard by Jake, and even lost one.

I would say Jake could out hustle and out fight Leonard over 15, but I see Leonard fighting this very close.

Something like the first Duran bout.

At what stage in Leonard's career does this match take place ?

If it's around 1982/83 (if we ignore the lay off regarding his damaged retina) and he moves up to 160 lb as was originally on the horizon,he convincingly outboxes La Motta. If it's his 1987 version who beat Hagler, then I see it as a 50/50 one. Will have to think about it.

It would have been Leonard at his best at that weight. So 82/83 seems a good start point.

I see the poll is running close, ...

Leonard clear decision at any stage of his career, WW or at LMW or MW against the MW Lamotta. Any version of Leonard is bigger than the version of Robinson Lamotta won a disputed decision over.

Lamotta is probably the most overrated boxer in history

LaMotta had seventeen pounds on Robinson in some of their fights .. I see Jake as being too strong .. Ray would not have had the power to keep him off .. The best middleweight version of LaMotta wouldd have been too tough and won a decision ..

Jake by decision, but I think Fullmer would be even worse for Ray.

I am a big Leonard fan but at160lbs ,over 15rds, I think Jake would be too strong for him and take a dec.

I voted for Ray by decision, but I have changed my mind since considering some of the comments here. Jake, I think, out-muscles Ray over 15.

Yeah the first fighter to beat the guy many consider the GOAT and the only guy to do so in well over 100 fights is the most overrated boxer of all time.
