One of my favorite douche chill moments in the last 10 years is Katsidis' creepily deranged "What are you looking at?" moment at the beginning of his match against Guerrero. At around 3:45.

That was simultaneously cringe worthy and yet totally bad ass. :huh

Well below Geale and Mundine, as far as contemporaries go. Level with Bika, probably.

That's fair. You agree top 15ish all-time? I really just don't see a lot of depth in historical Aussie boxing, not to be rude. Half a dozen greats, but a big dip after that.

An underrated fighter as far as Aussies go in my opinion, doesn't seem to get nearly the same praise or being mentioned as much as some of the others.

I'm not too familiar on all of the well respected Aussies through time but I know there aren't that many and he seems a relatively even level to some of those guys. So I would imagine he slots top 15 or maybe a pebble toss away from it if I sat down and educated myself on more knowledgeable folks' recommendations.

    Better than Danny Green?

I think maybe Green accomplished more on paper but I wouldn't call him a greater p4p fighter.

I agree, was just checking. Some think higher of Green than I do. I actually feel Katsidis might have the better on paper resume (would have to refresh on their boxrec's but I don't recall Green doing much more than Kats really did, as far as big wins goes; I know Green has the 168 to cruiser jump through his career which is nice when splitting hairs).

Quade Cooper is #1 for sure anyway.

I don't know enough about Austrailian boxing to make an educated vote on this to be honest.

Katsidis was great value once, I think it would be hard for him to get in the top 15, probably just outside.

The "what are you looking at" outburst is superb, it still makes me laugh all this time later.

Are the any other before the first bell outbursts or actions that are worth looking at again?

The ref asking "any questions and then Antonio Tarver saying "yes" then asking RJJ "Got any excuses tonight Roy"

    I love that 5 seconds.

You got to let that **** ferment for a couple of years, get a bit of perspective on his record.

But whilst it does drop off a bit after the top 15-20, there are a few guys who he certainly won't surpass.

In no order the usual suspects off the top of my head.

    Fenech
    Rose
    Carruthers
    Ferrari
    Thompson
    Mundine Snr
    Darcy
    Michael
    Famechon

Then you got guys who never won a title but have a mint resume like:

    Ronny Richards
    Dave Sands
    Jack Carrol

Then you got comparable short lived titleists (sic) like
    Jeff Harding
    Lester Ellis
    Mattioli
Then as mentioned current guys who may end up being remembered greater like Geale and Mundine Jr.

And thats not even factoring imports like Tszyu, Darchiyan, Bika etc who are Australian as any of us but in my personal opinion it gets a little grey when you learnt your craft and did your apprenticeship for another country.

Don't know where Kat will fall in all that to be honest...wait a couple of years and it should be clearer.

I feel he's roughly 25 but he could be lower. A lot of great fighters from Austrailia.

Excellent post. Nearly all the options offered in the poll are redundant to anyone with an understanding of Australian boxing history - as you clearly do.

The only real question in the context of the poll is whether Kats makes the top 25, and gut feeling is he probably does, but as you said, wait a couple of years and it should be clearer.
