To be fair different circumstances. Against Groves he was fired up due to the lack of respect he got of the first fight. He was propered trained for the 2nd contest and knew he could hurt Groves as he had him all over the place in that 9th round. Groves is no GGG....on the back of a ridiculous ko record, arguably the toughest proposition in world boxing. Froch has been excellent however I will be surprised if he takes the GGG fight.

You're right, but their wasn't a contract in place when he called Canelo out, but Canelo manned up and took the challenge. Curtis Stevens got a GGG fight by talking, why shouldn't Lara.

    Was there a contract sent?
I have not heard GGG say he is going to step up to SMW at this time

it would be hilarious if Lara sent GGG a coffin with the words "RIP Golovkin, He was a good boy" written on the cover

Because the biggest obstacle to Lara getting the fight is his own management. Stevens was available for an HBO bout at a time where K2 needed an opponent.

Before Lara can even be considered a few things need to happen

    a) Lara needs to get cleared by Haymon and HBO to fight on HBO.

    b) Froch needs to officially turn down fight

    c) winner of NDam-DL needs to turn down fight

    d) Lee needs to turn down fight

I got some news for people, and the usual suspects may be really surprised by this... but GGG is not going to fight on a PBC card. HBO has him under contract, he couldnt if he wanted to.

Haymon has to allow it, and HBO has to allow it - both of which are pretty severe business hurdles over which neither fighter has control. In the bigger picture, both Haymon and HBO have been great for each fighters' career, respectively.. its not like they are each going to sever ties with their main business backer just to make this fight. Expecting them to is silly.

Froch hasn't officially retired yet, and until he does don't attack him. Also even if he doesn't fight GGG, he's not GGG's mandatory, he doesn't have to fight him, so he's not ducking him. Froch is a warrior who's fought any and all comers the disrespect he's gets on here I find ridiculous and quite frankly..... bizarre.

Yeah I dont get it either.

Retiring, or even facing a local rival for belts in his own division as retirement fight instead of facing someone in a different division just for money is not in any way shape or form a "duck".
