FMJ has gone on record, more than once, saying his dream match-up in a time machine would be The Explosive Thin Man (whom Floyd idolized growing up, if anyone didn't realize - in spite of their stylistic differences) at super featherweight.

The pair of them also happen to be the names most frequently tossed around for "h2h GOAT" at the weight.

So, in a time machine, which of them emerges victorious? :think

floyd has never fought anyone with aggression and offense like arguello and arguello has never fought anyone with a ring iq like floyd, i got floyd based on him being the much harder fighter to hit

Mayweather beats the heck out of him.

Not hard to see why Mayweather liked and respected Argüello - both have very technically sound approaches, even if their execution (and core of best attributes) is dissimilar.

I wonder if student-of-the-game Mayweather is, by extension, a fan of Argüello's protégé, Chocolatito.

    :nono

This is someone FMJ respects and thinks would've been a challenge.

I think Mayweather's movement would give Arguello all kinds of trouble and that Floyd would win a decision. I just don't see Alexis outpointing him.

Arguello is great, but Mayweather movement, defense would have befuddled that man.

I see a stoppage in the late rounds.

Arguello would be taking so many shots

Probably has no idea who he is. Either way it's kind of an even fight in my eyes, I can see it going either way.

I might be wrong but I always thought Arguello was more of a thinker and counter puncher. Watch the Mancini fight.

Anyhow I have it wide for Floyd, I don't see the styles being the best match.

    Both are great.

    Peace.

This is a bad styles match up for Arguello and I've said it for years. Arguello is a ATG probably top 35 or better but he loses this fight.

Anyone trumpeting a stoppage for either man needs to step up and justify it.

much like duran, arguello was an aggressive counterpuncher but i wouldn't say he was more of a thinker than floyd just based on his punch output and workrate
