It's not possible. If Cotto wins, he fights Gennady Golovkin. He'll HAVE too. It'll be written in a contract. If Cotto loses, Mayweather won't want him. He just lost. That kills PPV buys and Cotto's name to be used to sell.

Canelo or Cotto for cinco de mayo sounds perfect.

I don't think the Golovkin thing will get enforced. The WBC is in love with FLoyd and will adhere to his wishes for his final fight. Worse case, the winner of Cotto/Canelo relinquishes the MW title. They'd make exponentially MUCH more money fighting Mayweather than fighting Gennady. I'd imagine the Cotto/Canelo winner will get upwards of 25-30 million to fight FLoyd.

Bradley didn't beat Pacquiao though. Everyone knows this.

So you're saying the winner of Cotto/Canelo fights Money Mayweather instead of Triple G? Man, I don't wanna see that happen. The winner of that fight should fight GGG.

I don't like the idea of Floyd stealing someone else's oponnent.

I was referring to their more recent/upcoming bouts. Bradley, overall, is better than Broner all day. But he's 0-1-1, or 1-1-1 in his last 3. Broner is 3-0 and about to face Porter. Not that I'd prefer Broner over Bradley (I'd prefer Bradley), it's just Broner's stock should be higher at this point in time.

I'd prefer them in this order.

    1. Bradley
    2. Garcia
    3. Broner

But fans remember their most recent accomplishments and Bradley is at an all time low, Broner is rebounding, and Garcia just went off the ****ing deep end.

I think you're missing something here, abuffy...

The WBC cannot MAKE Cotto fight GGG after Canelo they can mandate him to fight GGG or vacate. If Cotto beat Canelo and then had to choose between making far less money to get his head knocked off by GGG and defend his lineal MW title OR vacate the WBC and lineal MW titles and make a hell of a lot more money to get outboxed by Floyd again at 154 or a MW catch weight fight which do you think he'd choose?

Bradley should be 2-1-0 over elite opposition. Broner is 3-0 against meh opposition. Bradley should be higher.

I mean, can you blame Cotto or Canelo? How much do you think they'd make for a fight with GGG? Now think about how much they'd make to be the opponent for Floyd Mayweather in his last fight at this new MGM arena?

Also, you have to factor in the risk for the winner fighting FLoyd vs Gennady. They'll probably lose a UD on points and only get slightly beaten up with FLoyd compared to Gennady who can end up ruining their career.

How much does GGG make per fight anyway? He could easily just receive a 1-2 million dollar amount as step aside money for the Cotto-Canelo winner to fight Mayweather.

Anyway just from a monetary standpoint, the Cotto/Canelo winner will probably try to offer step aside money to Gennady to be able to fight FLoyd. If GGG doesn't accept that, I could see them relinquishing the title. I'm pretty sure both Canelo and Cotto would like one last crack at Mayweather before he retires.

Step aside money will not be an option after Cotto/Canelo. They will have to vacate to fight Floyd and they will and it will be well worth their while.

I agree. I didn't score the Chavez fight, it looked like Bradley won (I was watching two fights at once), but it's officially a draw and the "casuals" see that.

I edited my other post, additional thoughts.

If Cotto vacates the title, does that mean GGG takes his belt?

Theres really no ideal Mayweather opponent right now...

Thurman and Brook are probably the most appealing though out of his options, I just dont see him fighting them though. Maybe Thurman has a shot at getting the fight.

Broner, Khan, Garcia.... all lame fights and I wont be tuning in if one of them gets the slot.

I'm pretty sure he's the interim champion right now. He'd either be promoted to "full WBC champ" or he'll have a fight with someone for the WBC belt.

In a way, it's a good thing. Cotto is holding that lineal championship hostage with fighting at these catchweights. At least it'll give a chance for a true 160 lb fighter to win that belt.
