How was Canelo a bad style for Lara? We all know that Canelo likes to box from the outside. Lara had every chance to outbox Canelo but he couldn't. Lara is the same guy who went life and death with a way past it Angulo. He's good when the pace is nice and sweet but you push him and make him uncomfortable and he's not exactly the supremely skilled ring general we all think he is.

He did so, rather easily. Whether or not his work rate was to people's liking doesn't change that he did the cleaner work and was the ring general.

I voted for Lara because I believe he could beat Floyd. But as you say, & I agree 100% Lara , nor any other boxer will get a dec over Mayweather in Vegas, They might win the fight but they wont get any dec win. Sad isn't it the way corruption spoils a sport:patsch

Because Canelo did push it, which is something Floyd cant do. Hence why Canelo was a bad match, and Floyd a better one stylistically for Lara.

154lb Floyd at 38 isnt about to be pushing forward, trying to land hard shots.

Canelo was almost running after Lara for the last 6 rounds, he wasn't fighting in the typical Canelo fashion for that match. Angulo a pressure fighter walked him down for the majority of the match absorbing huge shots the whole match, most fighters aren't as brave and don't nearly a good enough chin to pull that off.

Floyd is anything but a pressure fighter and fights nothing like Canelo or Angulo, he would have troubles with Lara.

By the way I'm not that big on Lara.

Floyd wins but it's one of the 3 toughest fights that can be made for him out of any of the guys currently campaigning 140-154.

He is not a "step above" IMO, because I think his style is somewhat limited. But styles do make fights, and against guys who stylistically or physically cannot push him into being uncomfortable, I think he can win.

    Thats my take anyhow.

No he didn't. The fight was fought mostly on the outside and Lara still couldn't outclass him. Landing clean shots once in a while sometimes isn't enough to offset the lack of workrate. But that's who Lara is. He doesn't take risks, even in big fights. It is who he is.

Lara beat the hell out of Paul Williams and lost the fight on the cards. Even if he pulls a Kovalev over Bhop in this fight, and he will still lose.

Wait, if you are a supremely skilled boxer, don't you want your opponent to come forward and throw so you can counter them? Especially if you are faster and supposedly more skilled?

I think thats an over generalization. Regarding Lara's style, it is obvious that if you have the skill or physicality to keep coming forward and threaten him with hard shots he has difficulty.

If you cannot do that, not many people can match him in a slower paced match. Styles make fights, Lara has a very very distinct style that he is very very good at.. and will excel in fights where his particular style is an advantage, and struggle in fights that dont match up well. Probably in a bit more extreme fashion than many, because his style is so distinct and he is so completely set in it.
