Came about due to Cunningham reaching 20k followers on Twitter, which Tarver said he needed to do to 'earn' the date.
Tarver has a devastating left and is an excellent outboxer. I think he lands it at some point and hurts Steve and takes him out late. I will be rooting for Milk Dud that's for sure.
Apparently this is like 4 years in the making. Cunningham approached Tarver during his IBO reign at Cruiser, and was told "Nobody even knows who you are. Reach 20k followers and we can talk..." - and he did just that! ...and immediately upon doing so, threw down the gauntlet to make Tarver eat his words. :respect to Steve for the follow-through on the challenge, and :respect to Antonio for being a man of his word.
I'd rather see this at Cruiser, where IMO they both still belong. That said, this is a very good fight and could be among the best all year in terms of combined skill in the ring. (perhaps only rivaled by Klitschko vs. Jennings)
What's funny about that? Sure, they're both old and blown up, but they're both master craftsmen & gym rats and the heavyweight division is that bad.
And Milkdud has a great chin while Steve has a questionable one. Plus, Tarver has been stunning HWs with his left of late. His boxing skills are not appreciated enough imo. The guy does an amazing job of landing his left, via the counter or the 1-2. But he almost always seems to find a way to land it unless if it's against Bhop. Most didn't give much thought when he moved up to HW several years ago but he's been looking good, just using his boxing skills to beat guys from the outside. His left hand is the equalizer.
Interesting fight...................I would think Cunningham should have an edge, but they are both over-the-hill, neither can win the heavyweight title, except they could out boxing Wilder, if they land they win...............but..............they have seen their days..............
