What does it feel like to get punched in the liver? I ask because I want to write a boxing story, and I want it to be as accurate as possible.
I watch Hatton vs Castillo, Oscar vs Hopkins, Maidana vs Khan and Macklin vs Golovkin and it tells me most of what I need to know.
1 Sign up to a BOXING gym and work your way up to sparring. 2 Throw a telegraphed right jab and wait for your partner to throw that perfect body hook to your side. 3 You will then know what a liver shot can feel like.
Imagine running from a pack of hounds. Running till you could no longer run no more. Worse than that.
I found a good description on another forum 'A liver shot is like a punch to the jaw. If you get hit in the jaw when you're ready for it, it will daze but not KO you. If you catch it on the point of the jaw with your mouth open, you're probably going down. Any hard liver shot will take some of the wind out of your sails, but if you get hit while you're breathing and it's right on the sweet spot, there's no fighting it. Imagine having the wind knocked out of you but still being able to breathe. That's what it feels like, and almost your entire abdomen contracts to the point that you can't do anything. There's no training to "toughen" your liver--it's a very brittle organ and it does not react at all well to impact. Mirko himself has been felled by liver shots at the hands of Ernest Hoost in K-1. The only way to protect yourself is not to get hit there...' And another; 'The liver shot is more painful imo. The effects are about the same on both the left and the right side. It is when the diapram starts to spasm that all the problems begin. It is conected in the general area of the floating ribs. A good shot on the left or the right at the short ribs does pretty much the same thing. First you feel the punch. Then a weakness spreading out from the point of impact. The body will start shutting down the arms and legs so they are turned to jelly. Your heart rate goes up,your breathing gets shallow. The funny thing is that your head is clear as a bell. Your head is screaming move but your legs say no can do. You just crumple to the ground. So you lay there think WHAT IS HAPPENING. It is spooky but not that serious.'
It feels like burning. Like someone took a needle and injected acid into your side. And then it goes away in about 20 seconds.
Well put. Its like a cross between being winded and a clump of nerves being pinched. When you get into sparring, get in with a pro fighter for a few rounds. This may give you your answer.
If it's coming from Wilder or someone like that, it kind of stings. If it's from RAymi? You gone! And you **** and **** Blood for a week
Its paralyzing I got hit in the liver play fighting with one of my cousins at 14, I curled up in a ball on the floor for about 5 minutes.:hey I've taken tons of horrible blows to the head from everything imaginable, never too bothered by it, but I have a glass liver.
