Because he loves it, and he can still fight at a certain level.

But sooner or later, it's going to end in tears. Especially if the Marco Huck fight goes ahead.

I agree it is sad he is still fighting. Did he blow all his money or is he just in denial about how faded he is? One of my favorite fighers, Matthew Saad Muhammad, fought way past the days he should have packed it in for both of those reasons.

Typically it's a money thing. My bet is he needs the cash and that is very sad but typical.

I'll tell you what doesn't make sense. Jones beating the 8 times previously beaten Malinga, Tate, and Hopkins and being elevated to some ATG Middleweight.

Plus if you don't know already that both Leonard and Duran had better chins, than Jones, and were arguably better fighters defensively than him, then with all due respect perhaps you shouldn't argue so vehemently on his behalf. Plus both of those guys made Hagler work for every round. Jones standing off trying to leap in pot shot and leap out again simply wouldn't work against a prime Hagler.

Hasn't anyone ever explained to you that there is a lot more to defence than just reflexes?

As I said Hagler literally walks through Jones, and hits that mandible at his own convenience. I hope you are not one of these fools that believes Jones has any significant physical advantages over Marvin. He is 2 inches taller, has the shorter reach, and trust me when it comes to pure strength he is a country mile behind the marvelous one. Oh, plus he could hit that slab of granite Hagler called a chin all he liked and less than nothing would happen.

The fact that NONE of them were ever put to sleep for a good number of minutes, even past their respective primes would suggest otherwise.

I agree with a lot of this, but Roy did have a foot and hand speed advantage. Where Hearns tried to go to war with Hagler, Jones would most likely try to use his speed advantage to box. I think Hagler would eventually catch up to him and win via KO, but I just don't envision Hagler ending it as fast as the Hearns fight.

I think Hagler had the " better " footwork of the 2 though as you say not as fast. I also think Haglers jab takes away the hand speed advantage Jones would have, in much the same way Forrest's jab took away Mosley's hand speed advantage. Come to that I could even see Hagler wobbling Jones with his southpaw jab, then turning it over to a hook to drop him.

Then I honestly believe it comes down to work, strength and power. Hagler is never going to box Jones, he will simply take him out of his comfort zone and force him to fight, knowing that his own whiskers, and power would easily prevail as indeed they did with Tommy.

As I have said to Loudon, at 160 Hagler was as much an animal as Duran was at 135. Jones simply didn't posses the power or strength ( in that division ) to keep Hagler from dictating how the fight pans out.

I believe the problem here is a combination of Jones being grossly over rated, and Marvin being under rated. Hagler was no fool in the ring. If a guy was a boxer, he would make them fight. If the guy was a fighter he would box them for 7 or 8 rounds softening them up, then have the fight on his terms, when he was good and ready.

At 175, Spinks, Foster, Moore, possibly Charles
At 160, Hagler, Monzon, possibly Robinson and Greb.

Sorry, but I just don't see the word " possibly " applying in a Jones / Robinson fight. An easier nights work for Ray than most of his La Motta fights.
