Good Job Dummy:good Pretty much agree on everything, but I thought his skills were a little better than you did pre Stiverne match.
It never ceases to amaze me the high regard so many hold him in, and that includes a number of posters whom I have a great deal of respect for. Perhaps I'm just missing something they're seeing, but I just don't see it in him, and I respectfully disagree with those who believe otherwise.
Thanks. :good I probably was underrating him a bit, but I do think his skills and technique have shown noticeable improvement over the course of his last few fights - although, there's still a lot of room left on that front if he's going to hope to remain undefeated as he takes on more challenging tasks.
I agree, I don't rate Charr very highly and the KO win didn't shock me in the least, Takam was outboxing Povetkin it was drawish at the time of the stoppage. And Perez is very overrated. Magomed wasn't that great skillwise therefore not hard to outbox, and I knew Bryant would outbox Perez and predicted so on here, and had I been posting at the time of the Takam fight I would have said that on here as well. Takam is the best win of the three. Povetkin has great power but is somewhat limited, and for all the people who think Povetkin would perform better in a rematch with Wlad with a different ref, they are deluding themselves. The only thing that prolonged that match for Sasha was Wlad's incessant holding, which Povetkin with his limited plan of attack brought upon himself. Wlad would have KO'd him if the ref had of been harsher and penalized him for the excessive holding earlier.
A whole lot of room for improvement. He's a work in progress he needs a ton of fine tuning, and I'm not sure his hillbilly trainer (seems like a nice guy) is capable of the task, Wilder needs to move on and get some better guys in his corner to teach him at HW most opponents are dangerous, and to fight every match with the same discipline he fought Stiverne with. And how to adjust accordingly to different styles.
charr, takam, perez. some of the very best ko's of hw division from 2014-2016. against decent opposition. wlads ko against pulev was also great. mansours ko over kassi was earthshaking but kassi isnt great. joshua parker has some quality 1 punch kos aswell against the opposition hes expectes to fight. id pick povetkin to ko jennings thats for sure.
glass cannons dont survive long in the hw division.although they are exciting to watch and fan friendly. wilder hasnt got an emmanuel steward to go to once he gets his glass smashed.
Povetkin limited? You must be deluded. Charr, a top-25 heavyweight, has a solid beard, yet he got KTFO. Takam is a top-10 heavyweight with an iron chin, he got KTFO. Mike Perez is perhaps one of the most skilled heavyweights around, also holder of an iron chin, he got KTFO in the first round. Both Perez and Takam beat Wilder easily, Charr might be a 50/50 fight. Bryant Jennings didn't outbox Mike Perez. Perez was easily winning the fight and after he gassed it was Jennings who had some better rounds. Anyway, fight should have been declared a Perez win or a draw at least. About the Wlad-Pov fight. There was a reason why Klitschko clinched him the whole fight. HE would have been knocked out if he wasn't allowed to hold, not Povetkin.
To answer your question, nope. Wilder is barely(being generous) in my top ten heavyweights based on skill, chin, experience etc. I'll put it this way. Can you see any of the legit title contenders having any trouble whatsoever getting rid of Molina within a few rounds? Wilder has a few tools at his disposal so will always be dangerous. Is he the future? No, he's not. Stiverne was a perfect fight for Wilder. Short, plodding defensive fighter who Wilder thrown his weak jab against for 12rds hahaha The first aggressive guy he faces, he's getting shown up badly.Povetkin is front of the line. Wald's jab and clinches keptPovetkin from unloading his punches. Can you honestly see Wilder's jab and clinches keeping legit come forward fighters of him? I don't.
I said Povetkin had power. What is hard to understand about that. It was the power than won him the fights. But its not like Takam just succumbed after the first shot it took 10 rounds. It took him 7 to get Charr out of there, whoopty doo the Vitali match was stopped on a cut but Vitali also dropped him in the second and was beating the hell out of him, he probably wouldn't have made it to the 7th had it not been stopped. Perez was outboxed and lost the match against Jennings 7-5. Jennings also stunned Mike a few times, and he has limited power and that's exactly why I thought Perez would be KO'd by Povetkin. Povetkin is an average/good boxer with great power. On the Wlad-Povetkin comment, Povetkin came rushing in head down like a re****ed baby Frankenstein he had no plan whatsoever. Wlad repeated the same move over and over because Povetkin did the same thing over and over. He dropped Povetkin with friggin jabs 4 times, if he really sat down on his punches he would have gotten him out of there. As far as the KO Wlad's chin is most likely as good as Charr's and it would have taken a hell of a lot more than one clean shot from Alexander to put him down.
Nice video. I can respect the opinion but I disagree with it. Too much credit is being given to Wilder in it.
Good stuff. I agree that Wilder is no HW great material but he'd make a good contender at any era. Tommy Morrison or young Shannon Briggs might be accurate comprasions for Wilder. I give him %40 chance against Povetkin btw.
