...and took an almighty dump on GGGs resume. When a shot blown up JWW can dispose of a top 5 MW (and one of Golovkins 2 best wins) in 4 rounds, it tells you all you need to know about the state of the MW division, and raises serious red flags over Golovkins resume and quality of opposition. With Cotto-Geale what we witnessed was a HUGE gulf in class and skill level, the 3 pounds wouldn't have made a shred of difference, Cotto is just on a completely different level to guys like Geale, Stevens, Murray. Golovkin looks great knocking over barely world level contenders, but the fact remains he is totally unproven against elite competition. The hype and hyperbole is ridiculous, punchers always get overhyped but never have I seen anything like with GGG in 25 years of following the sport. He's a very exciting fighter and likeable character but considering he hasn't proved himself against legit world class guys, people are gettting way ahead of themselves.
Mr. Triple G's crimes are far worse than anticipated; if he's upset this many fans without beating anyone, the results will be horrific if he does. The ******* can't be allowed to continue like this unchecked, and adding Mr. Chocolatito to his list of accomplices is only going to make it that much worse.
Geale is not a top 10 MW, plus it was a CW. Cotto would go through hell if he fought Murray at 160. You have some very good guys at MW like Jacobs, Quillin, N'Dam, Lemieux, BJS, Eubank Jr etc
GGG retires him savagely. Quillin too big KO's him. Lemieux destroys him early nasty left hook as well. Khytrov savagely KO's him. Lee 7 inch height and reach advantage very rangy KO's him. Saunders wins on points maybe late stoppage. Murata wrecks him and stops him in 5. Jacobs wins by KO. Korobov outpoints him possible late KO. Heiland possibly KO's him. N'Dam win on points or late stoppage. Canelo stops him or outpoints him. Derevyanchenko mauls him Murray outpoints him or KO's him late. Rubio walks him down like Margarito brutally KO's him. Chudinov mauls him. Eubank Jr. mauls him. Castano possibly beats him on points Gary O'Sullivan could KO him, Jason Quigley brutally stops him. Tony Harrison decapitates him. Tureano Johnson mauls him. Willie Monroe Jr. could possibly outbox him. Antoine Douglas outboxes him.
He won his title against a martinez who fought with one knee. He then exposed one of GGG easy win, that he did. But then the real question is why not fight GGG or Canelo or the IBF belt holder? Why the qwack? Geale was irrelevant. At this point of his career, Cotto should only go for the big fights, or retired since he accomplished more then what he for now on do if he keeps fighting guys nobody cares about. Cotto has the leverage to choose about anybody. THe real business move would be to fight Floyd again for the lineal 160...
Cott is not a top five MW. ( GGG, Chocolate, Lee, Murray, Eubank, Lee all beat hiim, weighing in at 160 ) He's probably not a top 5 at 154 either. ( Canelo, Trout, Lara, Floyd and Pac all beat him weighing in at 154 ). The dude has played his (limited) cards very well and cannily, and as he's stated, he needs $$$ as retirement looms. He took a great gamble with Sergio, and it has paid off. Good for him !
