A complete guess on my part, but i suspect his train of thought was if he bombed Britain's weapon making capability, and indeed its major city enough, then the British war leader / s might concentrate more on rebuilding rather than fighting him. In other words take their ball back, and go home.
I am normally very happy to discuss World War II with people. I have refrained from doing so thus far, to avoid misdirecting the thread.
Being an American whose father flew in the Marines in the sthpacific and uncles fought in Europe, I say I would rather just get a thank you for American fighting men. we turned that war and defeated both and w/out us, they were getting England and Russia's asses kicked. Rivisionist historians in boxing and world history obviously. atsch
you dont vote and would assimilate as a nativeborn German. Something to be real proud of. Sounds like yr father fought for nothing.
a GUESS. This explains yr thought process entirely. On boxing also. I will make a guess, then back it up to the end of my life regardless of the facts. Pretty foxy Foxy. :yep It's good you don't vote. I believe many Dems GUESSED on Obrama and were wrong. Don't need one more
There is no revision in saying that the Ruskies did the majority of dying and killing in that war. It's just a fact. Eastern Front German casualties were TEN TIMES those of the Western Front. In human terms, the USSR took the largest of the fight out of Germany. There is just no other way to paint it. Of course a huge thanks goes to the US, both in smartly supplying the USSR with material during that campaign and later joining in the Western Front and Pacific Theater. And no, I am not one of those folks who questions choices made to end the war in the Pacific.
As we have both said, it is churlish to denigrate the role of any country, that contributed to the allied victory. No soldier has two lives to lose. If we were to identify the country that made the greatest contribution, to the defeat of the key components of the Axis war effort, it would look like this: German land forces - USSR German air force - USSR (just) German navy - United Kingdom Italian land forces - United Kingdom Italian air force - United Kingdom Italian navy - United Kingdom Japanese army - United States (just) Japanese air force - United States Japanese navy - United States Of course not all of those are equal.
Yes, but the above combatants are not equally weighted, nor were the front equal in casualties. I am not denigrating anyone or any country. I have nothing but admiration for those who fought in defeating what was a major evil in world history. I am just stating that the USSR did the majority of work... of killing and dying... in the fight against the Nazi's. This is not revisionism or a revelation or even disputed on any level of academia.
