    No, i want an American HW who is either the real best or is willing to take his chances and prove it win/lose in the ring.

    If Wilder is just going to milk the title and pass on real challenges, I can't get behind him.

    If he fought Povetkin and beat him, and announced his next opponent as Wlad, I would be happy.

    He's been champion for a few months only, and has already had one title defense. It was a soft touch defense, but most newly crowned title holders take a soft touch for their first defense when circumstances permit.

    You're acting as if he's been champion for years and avoided the best available challenges.

    Yes! Because I only root for American fighters. And if 2 American fighters are squaring off, I choose who I root for by who's wearing the more patriotic colors, and if that deciding factor happens to be a push, I go based on who lives closer to New Jersey.

    On a serious note, I'm actually surprised that there aren't any American fighters who try and play up a patriotic angle, Creed trunks and all.

    Getting people to hate him for it is something that adds to the marketability, methinks.

    I kind of wish Ward himself took on that mantle, and sported Apollo Creed trunks, entering the ring to James Brown, with an American flag d****d over his shoulders, and one of those fancy Uncle Sam hats.
