Should stick to Lightweight where he will be a force. He has no business at welterweight. Light welter at a stretch,
Baby Money will be alright. He just needs some time to reassess and get back in the ring. He'll bounce back from this robbery.
He would have to dedicate himself to his craft, and walk around no more than 150 to make 135 at this point, he ain't making 135 walking around in the 170's as he was before this fight
I actually like Broner and think he's a very talented fighter. There are 2 glaring issues I see with him. The first is he doesn't utilize his jab at all, and he needs to really start implementing that punch with frequency. This won't be the last time he takes on an aggressive swarmer like a Porter, so it's imperative for him to keep his punch rate high and it all starts off with an effective jab. It makes no sense because he has good accuracy, good handspeed and good combination punching.A solid jab can do wonders for his offensive repertoire. The second thing, and I noticed it after he took on Paulie M, is that he is a little too ambitious for his own good. He won his second championship in a 2nd weight division at 22 or 23 years old when he beat Dimarco for the LW title. He than immediately jumped up 2 weight classes to take on Paulie M for an alphabet title at WW and completely bypassed fighting at the JWW division. Fighting Paulie was fool's gold because he's never been a big puncher at any weight class, let alone at WW. It should've been a singular fight only at the WW division, and Broner should've went back down to LW right after the fight. You can't jump multiple weight classes so quickly and expect to yield great results. Look at FLoyd, he started at 130 just like Broner. But Mayweather took his time to get to WW, I think he reached there around 2006 when he was about 28 or 29 years old. He allowed his body to grow into each division he campaigned in. You have to admire Broner's ambition and that he's willing to take on anyone in the sport. But his handlers have to be bring him along a bit slower, and I think it all begins with him trying to figure out what's the best weight for him to campaign in at this juncture in his career. He's still young and can bounce back from last night.
I think his lack of a work rate combined with his lack of power at the weight class will create a cause for concern from here on. Nothing is preventing these guys from marching in and working Broner inside, Adriens only answer was to hold He cant win a fight landing 68 power punches, that is atrocious, about 5-6 per round. Porter didnt do much better landing in the 90's so less than 10 a round. The fight was a dud over all, may have been a good fight if the ref took points early and forced them to box it out and not hug it out Broner even had that bum he beat for the 130 belt and gavin rees in his chest all night banging away but he had power and was able to hurt those guys inside and put them away. He has no equalizer at 147 and will be doomed at the weight if he doesnt fix his flaws.
I agree. Said to my Wife yesterday he loves talking s h i t but it is not natural for him. He is awkward in his interviews and doesnt know what his style is. No confidence at the elite level. His talent allows him to beat world class guys, but not those trying to be elite.
He has good power, hand-speed and a nice shot selection (which he uses all too sparingly). He doesn't, as I've always maintained, have a good defence. Some people are apparently so hypnotised by the shoulder roll, they can't see he's easy to fit. He's flat footed, doesn't seem to have a ring IQ, therefore can be bullied, out-worked and out-boxed (partly due to his lack of a jab). The skills he has are flashy, which is clearly enough for some people to comically overrated him. Skills are more than power, hand speed and nice looking punches.
