CLINCHERS Are DESTROYING Boxing (Should Be a HARD LIMIT on # of Clinches Per Round)

    Blame Floyd for clinching, now other boxers may do the same thing.

    Lmao dude I counted about 17 clinches in that video. That's below average for a 12 round fight. People who think there was a lot of clinching in that fight simply don't watch much boxing.

    Secondly, there were like 3 clinches in the second half of the fight - which was pretty much a Floyd whitewash.

    Only way to get the message across is to warn and then deduct a point. Anything less and the fighter will just ignore the referee.

    Why do some fighters like Maidana not get clinched on ? Because they actually can do something inside, fighters should learn to fight inside ( uppercut, body shots ... ) instead of complaining. Obvious if you only trow wide shots like porter clinching will negate your offense.

    I can't agree more. The thing is, imposing penalty even today does stop the offender from clinching. I will go beyond that and give the non clincher credit in scoring rounds, this will give the clincher something to think about. Score every clinching incident like the other fighter is controlling the action. This is all to make more matches interesting. Finally, other sports have changed there rules to make the matches more appealing to fans and clinching is truly not interesting as a strategy or tactic.

    Ricky Hatton fought inside. He didn't grab hold like a limpet then run like a rabbit. What Mayweather & Broner do is exactly that. That was the difference in Broner & Porter Broner grabbed held lay all over Porter. But Porter kept punching & fighting.
    The referee is supposedly in charge BUT the way boxing is corrupted today the referees & judges are told what to do by the commissions & promoters If they don't do as theyre told they do not get the assignments in future.

    It's part of the game. You clinch to protect yourself. If the opponent is coming in with his head, if he is leaning on you, if he is not giving you room to punch etc. that is what the ref is for. If your hurt you want to tie him up. Get used to it.

    Along with clinchers go too lenient referees such as TonyWeekes who should have penalised Broner a lot sooner and forced him to make a fight of it.
