Sergei Kovalev vs Andre Ward - height and reach advantage?

It's very telling that the best win on Kovalev's resume is having gone 12 rounds with a senior citizen. And beyond that, the senior citizen had Kovalev swinging at air ALL night. Had Hopkins been 36 instead of 50, he would have absolutely CLOWNED Kovalev.

You might have a point, Ward is an elite fighter. But even though Hopkins was almost 50 I was impressed with Kovalev's boxing ability in that fight. He outboxed Hopkins which isn't easy to do.

He always picks black boxer to beat white boxer and that's why he's very often wrong. Ward is a better boxer , he's a better inside boxer ,also has much better defence , but kovalev has power advantage and sometimes power is all you need.

 

Lots of people picked Hopkins to beat the TOMATO KAN Krusher because most thought he was nothing more the an over hyped Eastern Eurobum.

Maybe that explains why the TOMATO KAN Krusher *ducked* Stevenson..

The funny thing is that Kovalev would KO all of Ward's best wins: Froch and Kessler.
36 year old Hopkins wasn't a Light Heavyweight, smart guy. Kovalev would beat any Light Heavyweight version of Hopkins.
