Pac's opponent vs Floyd's opponent: reactions

First off, let me start by saying that Mayweather fighting Berto or Mayfield is horrible. There is absolutely no way to convince me they're good opponents for him. I don't mind him picking an easy fight for his last or to set up his 50th, but it's still a **** fight.

With that said: When Pacquiao selected Algieri, what I heard from avid fans was that Pac had just "beat the P4P #3 and was allowed to fight who he wants." Fine, that's totally OK with me, but don't turn around and try to hype Algieri, that's hypocritical and contradicts the former statement. You know who you guys are.

Take that same argument: Mayweather just beat the P4P #2 (who beat the former P4P #3), is he not allowed to select a weak opponent now?

Call a spade a spade in Floyd's deck but call a spade a king in Pac's deck? Help me out here...

Good to see that you put the sport before being a fan for floyd. When Pac fought Algieri, I completely shat on it as other Mayweather and other boxing fans did. Berto and Mayfield are worse than Algieri, but really not far off. If Mayweather picks these 2 fights for PPV not only is this terrible for the sport, but a spit in the face towards his fans. Of course if you're a nuthugger like Cereal Lobotomy then you'll buy this PPV with open arms, and be excited.

 

My response to Floyd-Mayfield is the same as my response to PAC-Algieri. No buy. (unless the PPV is built around undercard, which pretty much never happens)

Still not a great comparison though. People forget that Algieri had at least won a high profile bout and owned a belt. Mayfields recent achievement is a light tuneup after losing a decision to a guy who lost to Broner. Factor in that PAC was generally not as regarded as Floyd, and its not an apples to apples comparison. (I know I didnt consider Manny p4p#2 and hadnt for many many years)

 

You're almost as bad as MVC! in terms of how much you suck Floyd off.

 

Did you lot watch Algieri fight Khan and Provodnikov? He is way better than Mayfield or Berto.

 

When Pac fought Algieri, Algieri was an undefeated, major belt owner coming off a win against a beast like Provodnikov. Had Berto beat Ortiz or Guerrero, he'd be an OK opponent for Mayweather which both Ortiz and Guerrero took Mayweather fights following their respective wins vs Berto. Berto had his chances but blew them off.

If Pac fought Algieri after Algieri was clearly beaten by Khan, he'd receive the same criticism Floyd will not get if he fights Berto.

I'm not talking about Karim Mayfield, he's not a good opponent even for Errol Spence Jr.

I did, and yes, Algieri is better than them. Fact is, Algieri for Pac and Mayfield/Berto for Mayweather are all cherry picks. Can't call Algeri a legit threat to Pac then turn around and trash Berto for Floyd. Make sense?

 

Floyd is not fighting Berto or Mayfield. That's forum fodder.

 

Mayweather will not be fighting any of these two. Floyd will be looking to make a fight with the biggest name out there presenting the lowest risk.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mayweather drags GGG down to 154. I can also see Mayweather eventually trying to set rematches with either Cotto or Canelo at a catchweight of 155 for the MW title for next years Sept. bout.
