Lemieux just won a belt and is 25... Give him a break. So he is green at this level. He won't go for unification now with GGG since he came become somewhat popular and a draw on US TV with his next few fights if he wins with devastating KO against some bums, like GGG managed to do. Then a unification fight against GGG could be on the line. But as of now, Lemieux is not ready both talent wise and commercially and has some good money to make before. One thing is certain though if they ever fight, while GGG is way ahead in terms of skills, he would not stay intact if he get hit by Lemieux shots the way he usually get hits.

 

Sad to see how man on his peak can´t prove himself to a big stage because everyone is ducking him. He might be the best ever middle weight and there is a risk we won´t ever see him prove that to us.

The IBF beltholder/team has to actually WANT to unify first

 

Oscar is already thinking Canelo-Lemieux unification next year for IBF-WBC titles.
He wants nothing to do with GGG.

 

How can Lemieux have a mandatory defense if there is nobody ranked at #1 or #2. According to the IBF rules. Fighters have to fight elimination bouts to be ranked #1 and #2.

I'm confused....

 

Not gonna have that WBC though, without striking deal with K2 in some form or fashion.

Maybe he decided GGG is just too dangerous for any of his fighters, is content to have Cotto-Canelo be for no title, and let Canelo fight DL for IBF and let him get a title that way.

 

IBF apparently even said that 2 contenders have yet to fight for that #1 spot.

Kind of hard to believe IBF has ordered a mandatory where there isnt even a #1 fighter. IBF seriously trying to tell DL that he cannot fight until a brace of other fighters negotiate a bout, and fight? No unification?
