Who has the best winning record at or close to 175lbs? His opponent can weigh more
For me it is Charles ,with wins over:
    Moore x3
    Maximx2
    Bivinsx5
    Marshallx2 * Marshall was168 for 1 fight but Charles was only5lbs more.
*I know he fought some of these guys more than stated here, but I'm focusing on fights where he scaled near the lhvy limit

In many of these fights Charles was conceding significant amounts of weight to his opponents.
    For example , he weighed 161.5lbs to Maxim's 181.5lbs, and again166lbs to Maxim's 184lbs.
Charles gave Bivins 9lbs in one winning fight,14lbs in another, and 11lbs in yet another!
Conceding that amount of poundage to such skilled operators is truly phenomenal.imo.

Ezzard Charles whipped the best assortment of Light Heavyweights in his career, such as Archie Moore, Jimmy Bivins, Joey Maxin, Lloiyd Marshall,
Booker Beckwith, Fitzie Fitzpatrick etc. And as a young MW, he was a sensation beating about everyone except the "poor man's Harry Greb",
Ken Overlin...Ezzard was truly a great P4P fighter and in my eyes he was a better fighter than Ali P4P....No rope-a-dope for the LH Ezzard...No glitz but all fighter...In modern times I have Tunney, Billy Conn, Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore in historical order...

    Bivins is a bit lunatic.

    Teddy Yarosz
    Curtis Shephard
    Gus Lesnevich
    Joey Maxim
    Ezzard Charles
    Anton Christoforidis
    Lloyd Marshall

He also beat Melio Bettina at heavy, but that's another LHW champ.

    Bivins had:
    6lbs on Yarosz
    9lbs on Charles
    6lbs on Christoforidis
    10lbs on Marshall

Only the three below were close in weights, in lhvy fights.
    Lesnevich
    Sheppard
    Maxim

No way does he compare to Charles imo.

Greb's LHW resume is as good as anyone.

    Tunney 3x
    Loughran 4x
    Dillon 2x
    Levinsky 6x
    Rosenbloom
    T. Gibbons 2x
    Slattery
    Kid Norfolk 1x (arguable)
    Miske 2x
McTigue 2x (not a huge win IMO but some people will be impressed by it because he was a champ)

All of those guys are in the HOF

Not sure if the Dillon fights qualify weight wise.
Greb's winning resume at lhvy is on a par with Charles because, like him he was often conceding weight to ATG fighters.

Dillon was a LHW when he fought Greb, I think thats what should matter, not what weight Greb was comfortable at as long as he wasnt over LHW and he was beating LHWs.

I wasn't concerned with Greb's weight we know roughly what he weighed. I just wasn't sure if Dillon was around 170/175lbs for their fights. You say he was, then that's impressive.

    Off the cuff, Fitz has
    Dooley
    Godfrey (debateable which one though)
    Slavin
    Maher
    Sharkey
    Ruhlin
    Corbett
    choynski
    Gardner
    OBrien

Some pretty good names there, though most are over the light heavy limit.

Because the second fight was considered one of the worst decisions of all time with by far more people thinking Greb won (several even claiming it was as one sided as the first fight). Their fourth fight was a ND in Cleveland and More newspapers thought Greb won that one as well. Its a myth that Greb won the first and then Tunney suddenly came back, made adjustments, and won all of their remaining bouts.

    Tunney-Greb series :

2-1 to Tunney, and 2 NDs
