I just found out that Cuban people with French surnames like Rigo are descended from the Haitians who immigrated to Cuba in the 1800's due to a war or something and that Rigo is probably a 38th degree cousin of Adonis, Stiverne and Berto. As such he should never fight Stiverne and it shouldn't be called ducking. Kinda like the case with Klitschko brothers. Thanks.
Look up the great Haitian leader Toussaint L'Ouverture he led a Revolution that freed the slaves in Haiti and set up an independent state, and unfortunately the French and then we Americans both of us known lovers of Democracy showed up and instilled puppet dictators who've butchered Haitians for the past 200 years in the name of Democracy, capitalism and of course the United Fruit Company.
LOL.. good timing for this thread. I had a dream last night and Rigo was knocked out cold and was lying down like Ricky. Not sure against who but I felt bad for the guy as he is one of my fav boxer. Then I woke to realize that it was just a dream..
If one has ever boxed before, then Rigo would be their man. You can appreciate his work only if you understand what he does.
Top guys don't seem to want to fight him or each other it seems, really Frampton and Quigg should have already fought each other and then Rigo but that fight hasn't even happened.
Haymon will get him fights, and a get him paid. Alot of people hate on Al Haymon, but I like him for one main reason, he gets the most money for his fighters as he can. I believe boxers, for the work they do, and the risk involved should be some of the highest paid athletes, so they are able to provide themselves and their loved ones a great quality of life. Whatever the hell he is a manager, a promoter, whatever, his fighters are getting their due.
Fighting bums keeps your name in the papers. Any fights is better than no fights and he's approaching 40 years old. He doesn't have time to fight once a year.
Nobody and no promotions want to support this boring Cuban boxer. Rigondeaux and Lara are in the same situation.
