Does this really need two threads?

    It's hardly Marciano vs Ali

Yes it does because it individualized it more. A few posters think Pastrano could beat liston, so that's intriguing enough to start a debate

No they don't, not a single person in the other thread picked Pastrano...

    What are you talking about?

Yes Mr. Steve Compton picked Pastrano having a really good shot to beat Liston.

Question, You used to be the poster MuchMoore right?

What is your problem with this thread? Fans like to talk about matched where to fighters shared the same era but never met up. Pastrano was champion at the same time liston was champion. Pastrano was ranked in the same weight class liston fought in, at the exact same time

I plan on making a lot more Willie Pastrano threads in the future. I always thought of him as nothing more than an inconsistent decent fighter with a padded resume but apparently a lot of people love him and think more highly of him.

I also plan on posting video clips of very rare 40s and 50s film I am about to order for a historian

One guy who said Pastrano could elude but didn't have the zip to keep Liston at bay? That's not a few posters picking Pastrano, that's not even one guy picking him.

    No. Only been me.

Because you just matched these guys and nobody picked Pastrano. It's bizarre.

In the floyd patterson vs harold Johnson thread

    Klompton said
"The difference is that Pastrano was a fast, durable, defensively adept fighter capable of outpointing Liston."

    Also said in another thread

" He would be very fast. Faster than anyone Liston fought including possibly Ali. If he came into the ring in shape (which is not something you want to count on with Pastrano) he might very well render Liston totally ineffective"

Seems to me he is giving Pastrano a good chance, and making controversial statements like Pastrano being faster than ali, make liston totally innefective

He also said Pastrano would not be able to keep Liston off. I see no indication he actually favors Pastrano, especially in the other thread that asked directly,

Ultimately one poster being ambiguous at the most does not justify a whole new thread,

Honestly it looks like you became so enraged that one out of like ten posters was reluctant to pick Liston by destruction that you imagined a large number picking Pastrano to win.

Quite Possibly. Like I said same era same weight class champions at the same time...thought this was relevant for an individual thread

FYI. I just started ezzard Charles biography, after that is jersey joe walcotts biography. Don't know if you've read either but I'll be sure to give you a review. Can't wait to gain more education on these two great great fighters
