ward fairly emphatically outpoint joe by being MUCH more accurate and damaging than joe.
Joes late rally stamina-wise wont help against fully fit ward.

The only chance joe has is if in wales, he can pay his usual ref to stop the fight should ward trip/slip accidentally.

Prime Zaggers, before his hands turned to glass beats Ward pretty clearly and maybe stops him.

If I could choose one, I'd go for Calzaghe vs Froch around 2006-07, that would be a more entertaining fight on several aspects. Ward probably has a better chance at outpointing Joe but that'd be the kind of fight where Americans score it 116-112 for Ward and the Brits the other way around.

I would pick Calzaghe in a close-but-clear win.

how does he stop him without a fake cheat ref?

calzaghe has never hurt anyone, nor possesses power to do so. and ward has rarely been hurt.

I would go Joe Calzaghe on points, southpaw and quicker than Ward.

Ward is better than anyone Calzaghe fought including a 43 year old Hopkins. So he'd definitely be a real challenge.

But Calzaghe was fast, had that crazy work rate and while he's open to the right hand, Ward isn't known for having a great right hand, his left hook is by far his best punch.

Ward has a definite shot, but with him not having the power to hurt Calzaghe and with it likely going to the scorecards I could see Calzaghe winning just on work rate alone.

Joe finds a way to beat ward i think. Would be a very very good close fight infront of 7 ppl in oakland leisure centre.

Ward would box Calzaghe's head off. Boxing is all about levels, Calzgahe was good but Ward is elite. Anyone who thinks otherwise is clueless.

I pretty much agree with this assessment.

Calzaghe was elite without a doubt.

I find this fight genuinely hard to pick.

Calzaghe beat Hopkins who is similar to Ward but smarter. And he did it in America. Ward has never fought a slick boxer because he knows he can only beat plodders.

Nah. Elite is Mayweather, Pacquiao, Jones, Lewis etc. Calzaghe's ability isn't on that level whereas Ward's is. Calzaghe is much closer in skill level to Kessler and Froch than he is to Ward. The gulf is too big and there is only one winner here.
