I haven't made a single comment about Gomez in this thread. I have passed no opinion about him whatsoever. One of my favourite fights ever was Salvador Sanchez turning Wilfredo Gomez's face into pizza. I passed an opinion on an incontrovertible fact, one that can be proven in the simplest way possible, by actual watching his fights - that Prince Naseem had balance issues and was prone to flash knockdowns (see the Alicea, Kelley and Sanchez fights) as a result.

Who did Hamed ever beat ? He fought one top caliber guy, got destroyed and quit the ring. His next biggest fight was a life and death with a semi-shot Kevin Kelly .. you really cannot even compare the two fighters.

The question is who was GREATER, Wilfredo Gomez or Naseem Hamed; not who would win in a head-to-head matchup. Gomez was a 122-lber. during his prime years while Naseem was a 126-lber. In my opinion, Gomez was a far greater fighter based on his record.

I attended a bout in which Wilfredo Gomez get stopped by Salvador Sanchez iin Las Vegas. In addition, I also saw Gomez fight in bouts shown on both closed-circuit and regular television. His demolition of Carlos Zarate, one of the greatest bantamweights ever, in a bout shown on closed-circuit television also stands out in my memory.

Prince Naseem Hamed did not impress me when I saw him get outboxed by Marco Antonio Barrera in a bout shown on American television.

A better-schooled fighter Gomez beats Hamad. Hamad is just one of those guys that was able to get away with bad technique and fundamentals through sheer reflexes, but we saw what happened when he fought Barrera, who was so much more fundamentally sound.....

Are you related to Hamed? You are incredibly biased for Hamed.
