I'd be willing to stake my life on having watched that fight more times than Rummy. And while I respect many of his opinions, I think he's way off on this. I think IB is a very capable scorer as well, but I've disagreed with some of his cards by as many as 3 rounds.

I've always said this fight could go either way, and since Calzaghe is retired and Ward is in semi-retirement, nothing has changed. Always given Calzaghe the slimmest of edges, but only because I have to pick one or the other.

Neither guy has ever faced a guy like the other.

    Hey Davey,

    how's things?

Yeah, you were right. And I'm really pleased for him. Let's hope Groves beats Jack so we can have a big rematch.

    :good

    :-(

I'm told before the tragic accident this poster used to actually know something about boxing.

Ward by sd, his power is the difference in this one.

Ward easily. Calzaghe is out of his depth if this fight were to take place. Too bad it'll never happen though.

Ward by ugly decision, nullifying some of Calzaghe's work rate with holding and up-close in-fighting, along with clever movement.

Calzaghe probably slaps Billy Goat Ward to a tough decision win.

Calzaghe, too slick, too fast, and his workrate is amazing while Ward was gassing against a very slow plodding Froch.

I'd go with Joe. Calz made 21 consecutive title defenses and then goes up in weight and grabs the belts at LHW.

Joe beat more styles and continually would fight.

Ward refuses to fight for a year and a half.

I think Joe has 4 main advantages:

    1) Southpaw
    2) Longer Reach
    3) Speed
    4) Workrate

Ward vs Calzaghe will resemble something similar to Mayweather vs Pacquio.

Calzaghe's punch output will be nullified by Ward.

If Calzaghe could only manage a split decision against an older version of Ward (Hopkins), I don't see how he could deal with a young, faster, and better inside fighting version of the guy that gave him his toughest fight.

Ward by comfortable decision ala Mayweather vs Pac.

There are levels to this ****. Calzaghe was not on Wards level.
