Cooper knocked down a YOUNG Cassius Clay. 3 or 4 years later, Ali was a better fighter. Apart from that one instant, Cooper wasn't much of a threat. Still, I'd put that YOUNG Clay in with the YOUNG Tyson who fought James Tillis ... and Clay would win, no question. Frazier was better than Tyson. He took punishment from Ali and landed plenty of shots, 15 rounds workrate. It took him several rounds to have Ali in any real trouble. No comparison with Tyson's style.
Yes, and that shows how f**king crazy Marciano is ! He'd eat his own frigging heart and keep coming, blood pouring down the side of his ugly face. Like mama's meatba*lls.
If you put a gun to my head on this one, I would likely change my mind a few times before I committed. I would have moments where I thought Louis, moments where I thought Liston, and moments where I though Ali. I might even toy with the idea of Holyfield, because he had shown a stylistic advantage when they fought.
Marcianos heart would help him prevail against the much bigger guy and puncher, just like Frazier did vs Foreman. When all else fails, heart prevails!
Seriously, Tyson in his prime was a threat to anyone. A puncher like that has to be. But realistically, there's 5 or 6 men I'd fairly confident bet to beat him. Better fighters, with the right styles. If Douglas is beating the sh!t out of him, it stands to reason there are a few ATGs that would pull that off too. He can't fight Bruno and Tubbs for ever in such a scenario. Ali in his prime would kill him. I'm not sure where that's ever been doubted.
Well, I see your point, they stopped the fight, and Frazier might have outlasted Foreman in a "finish fight". Bit brutal. But I see what you're getting at. Frazier's heart kept him on his feet at the end. I'll give Foreman full credit though. It was a massacre. Foreman KO1 Tyson Foreman KO2 Marciano. :good
Tubbs did school Bowe, the one guy everyone overrates on h2h basis and Bruno did the same to Lewis to a lesser extent (before getting sparked).
They both soundly beat versions of Tyson that were much closer to his best than Holmes was in 1988. So...
Tubbs and Bruno are nowhere near the level of Ali and Liston. Just saying. That's the level Tyson looked good against, except when Buster Douglas beat him up. It all adds up to not meaning much for his chances against Muhammad Ali. Ali NEVER got smashed up like that, Douglas-style, and god knows he had his fair share of bad performances and lazy training camps ! Different levels.
