how much seconds will this bout last on September 12th ?? !! I reckon under 120 seconds with 3 knockdown and Cornish being brutally kod
This hasn't been announced has it? Not a bad fight though really, the guy is 21-0, not a bad fight for anyone, against a fighter who is there to win.
Please no! Joshua may as well sell tickets to watch a heavy bag session, and a short one, for its as much as Cornish will offer.
Come orf it - Cornish Wafer stands no chance at all. atsch Another night, another can and another shyte fight. Thought he might step it up and fight Paul O'Grady by now.
If you've gone 10 rounds with Larry Olubamiwo you shouldn't be allowed anywhere near Joshua. Cornish probably wouldn't even beat Kevin Johnson.
No but there aren't many fighters that do stand a chance. You need to be world champion or a top world contender to stand a chance in my opinion, Cornish will lose by KO but look at his record 21-0, he is no mug, he might not be great but he is still a good fighter and this will be AJ fighting for the British title.
If Cornish wins he is 22-0 and feeling pretty smug. It's no lose for Cornish. Is it official for the British title?
All these fights against mainly fat and old defenceless men is a national scandal and all involved including BJ and Matchroom should be ashamed. I agree with your ****ysis above which makes the can fights even more annoying. Some stiff is going to be seriously damaged if this keeps happening in boxing and there really needs to be govt intervention to stop this shyte. BJ should be taking on someone of the calibre of Fury around now and fighting for a World Title by the middle of next year at the latest. We will probably find him fighting the next level of bums for another 2-3 years at least including Chisora, Wach, Charr, Chagaev, Pianeta, Perez.
Very disappointing fight. I really don't think Cornish could beat Johnson, Bahktov or Airich. Big fan of Hearn but he is annoying me with his matching of Joshua and is going to mess his career up. We had potentially Wach and Hearn basically said "it would be a good learning fight, get rounds against someone durable, but no in the UK knows who he is". No one knows who Cornish is! Difference being, Cornish will not get out of the first round and is a major step backwards. The thing that annoys me most is Joshua doesn't need more hype, he needs less! He's No.1 with WBC for christ sake! He desperately needs rounds and to deny him good fights because there won't be hype (as if Sky couldn't build Wach up) is downright pathetic, bad management and embarrassing for Joshua and British boxing. Stop the needless hype and get some proper fights made for f*** sake!!!
lol at the government intervention that's made me p1ss myself laughing for some reason. wach would be a good opponent, someone taller who can give him a few rounds without offering a huge ko threat. If he's pulled out of the manc fight fighting Cornish is a bit pointless. suppose he's already ranked no2 with wbc, so will be mando fairly soon for wilder / povetkin so there may not be a point in risking him against anyone decent, but it'll cause his career to lose momentum + increased criticism
Gary Cornish Pasty!! My honest worry is that fighting these average fighters will do nothing for his first big test. AJ is at Chisora level already and these fights might be AJs downfall.
i really dont want this thread to become just bashing gary cornish but he has been handled so carefully by his management it is like they have hit the jackpot with this fight! gary will be paid very well and so will his manager for a fight he has practically zero chance of winning. i was at the show where he boxed (very loose term) against larry o and everyone at the show could see larry o was waiting to be kod!! but gary couldnt do it and he was nowhere near knocking him out. gary has had a very short career fight wise and i have no doubt he could pick up a british title if he had enough learning fights and picked teh right opponent at the right time but as has been said already aj is leagues above gary and i stand by my prediction in the opening post. i just hope that gary doesnt get hurt or too dis-heartened when the fight happens because he seems like a very nice guy. i also disagree that the fight wont sell, it wont matter to joe bloggs who gary has faced when he has a 21-0 record and is 6' 7". both undefeated and the england vs scotland angle ensures that the public buy into the fight.
Wait until one of these cans is seriously hurt mate and see what happens when there is a public uproar. It is like bashing defenceless old people on the street but is deemed somehow legal.
